Season 6 was female (Jordin Sparks), Season 5 was male (Taylor Hicks), Season 4 was female (Carrie Underwood), Season 3 was female (Fantasia Barrino), Season 2 was male (Rubin Studdard), Season 1 was female (Kelly Clarkson). That's 4 for the girls and only 2 to the boys - so will it be the boys' turn this season?

This market will close on May 20th 2008, the day of the Final Performances of American Idol season 7. It will be suspended prior to the start of the show. It will be suspended prior to an earlier show if there is only one male or one female left in the competition.
