Is the outcome to this question unknown until it's revealed? What is the influence of the Mini Future (BSE) on the opening number? (see http://www.bseindia.com/) I just don't understand the 93% Yes two hours before open with $11K activity. This is not at all like the Yes/No spread on Dow open questions.

it means when it goes out of beta and most of the bugs/issues get resolved...their still adding functionality and features and such and want to make sure people actually enjoy the site before they start advertising and getting more investment....as far as when it will be, i'm not sure

I have found it enjoyable to "play". I don't know if I'll continue much longer, but for now it is a pleasant pass time (at least until the Blue Jay's season starts!)

i would assume that we would see advertisements, but a fee is always a possibility...i'm sure they would let us know when it will occur....should be pretty exciting for them cause it would mean their business proposal was a hit or whatnot...they actually were invited to some conference or something in san fran recently

I'm at $41,000 net, but I can't keep pace with the rate of increase the top 20 achieve, so i doubt I'll ever get there. I have limited time to play as well. I figure the higher players put some time into it, or have experience/insight into a particular area (business, sports, etc.) Am I right?

I mostly play the political stuff. I have the impression that on the market questions, for example, some folks have a lot more insight than me and I'd get killed if I ventured there. However, it seems like that is where the volume (read: profits) are.

It is more about predicting ow others react than being able to predict events. I have very few positions that I actually hold until they settle. Mostly I just find soft positions, bet, and watch them go up and then bail before settlement.

Of course I also have positions that have fallen after purchase, so I'm holdin onto them.

I've noticed the sports bias. In future they need to align their sports questions with an odds maker. If every game/match is initially launched as a 50/50 all you have to do is pick-up an odds sheet and play the favourites. Something I don't have time for (nor is my ego wrapped-up in what my Hubdub rank is!!!).

yeah, almost all of my predictions i cash out on..probably have about 5 times as many cashouts as settled and usually it's just gettin in at the right time...like i made 17k today on a question about if gold would close above 1,000....as soon as the fed announced a rate cut gold started falling and i threw in 10k at 30 something percent

Right, so you make money if you log on often and search for weak positions. I've made a bunch on poorly weighted questions.

There is one question that is making me crazy - will Sylvester Stallone get an Oscar in 2009? NO is only at 73%. Don't tell that to the people at Web Mission 2008 - makes the site look pretty dumb!

yeah pretty much...the people with the most money, in order to increase have to bet large amounts, that throws the odds off and then everyone else evens it up...or when a news story first breaks, it'll shift the odds...i haven't seen that one about stallone, can't believe its only 73 also....has he EVER won an oscar?

i usually watch the newest and the closing soon ones....people like to wager right when stuff closes and alot of times i believe differently than most people so the newer Q's will give me a percentage i'll wager on....but yeah, mostly just playing the odds, buy low sell high

the problem with starting odds is that if you post what you think the odds should be the question will be voided. at least half of my voided questions were because of the starting odds. now i limit my questions from 40 to 60 or even odds in multiple choice

The problem with the stallone question is similar to many - the settlement period is too long to make money off of it. My $400 on that question could make 200 times that between now and next February, so why bet?

FYI - I leave it in because it would just kill me to see his odds get better!!!

The standings wouldn't do it. You need injury reports, recent trades, streaks, injuries, etc. Sports betters have a TON of information.

ah, I missed that. I joined in on the Spitzer fiasco myself. the staff screwed-up, but i made a killing once I understood how their interpretation was going to decide the question (which opposed how people were betting). I made $10,000 that day!!
