HOLLYWOOD actor Charlton Heston has died, his family have announced.
The star, best known for his roles in Ben-Hur and The Ten Commandments, was 84-years-old.
Family spokesman Bill Powers said the actor died on Saturday night at his home in Beverly Hills with his wife Lydia was at his side.
Heston revealed in 2002 he had symptoms consistent with Alzheimer's disease, saying, "I must reconcile courage and surrender in equal measure.''
