OK...getting near the end of August and we've still only had two hurricanes....a total of 6 tropical storms, but only 2 of them developed into hurricanes....

Can we make it a few weeks more with nothing really major developing.....

Hurricane season runs through November, but usually not much much develops after the first week or so of October....

Of course we can't go a few weeks without something major developing. September is by far the busiest month of hurricane season! :)

With three hurricanes in the last month, the total now stands at five for the season (Ike being the most recent; Josephine has already dissipated). There's nothing too likely to develop within the next week, giving us a much-needed break, but there's also no telling how long that will remain the case.

Also, as a possible source for settlement, here's the NHC archive page for this season's storms: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/2008atlan.shtml
