In response to a flag received about this market and its relation to the rules. If the cat-editor is there to watch the debate as I will, then the market can go on. Markets about what words a candidate will say in a debate are only allowed if the cat-editor will be available to watch the event in question.

In response to a flag received about how this will be settled, please read the settlement details: "This question will be settled if any candidate, moderator, or question mentions Spitzer or politician/prostitution acts."

I looked at the above comments for about a minute before it "twigged": cat-editor. You mean the DOG-editor is not going to watch? I'm a bit slow today...

BUT not slow enough to miss that there are going to be problems with this question. Like the Oscars' question: will an award winner mention IRAQ. One mentioned a city IN Iraq, but not the EXACT WORD Iraq, and we all lost a good deal of money on that one. Watch and See: the subject will be mentioned, but the wrongs words will be used, and the answer will be disallowed...and you will lose...

Again, the verdict will be: "close" but "no prize".

Actually, this question is a minefield. WHAT IF an announcer or questioner brings up the Spitzer subject, and BOTH CANDIDATES ignore it as inappropriate and answer whatever question without mentioning any of the magic words: Was the subject brought up or not brought up? Even if the candidates DIDN'T bring it up?

I think I have just answered my own question: as long as anyone on the program brings up the subject -- whether announcer, questioner, audience member or candidate -- and UTTERS THE MAGIC WORDS, it will be taken as a YES settlement. So the real concentration is on ANYONE saying "the words that qualify". (My original thinking had been in terms of what the candidates would discuss...)

Anyone in the debate can bring up the topic of Spitzer as long as it's brought up. Stephen I again direct you to the settlement details:
"This question will be settled if any candidate, moderator, or question mentions Spitzer or politician/prostitution acts."
