Is the American voting public a glutton for punishment?

Voided

The market has no clear question which can be objectively settled. The only possible question being asked is if McCain will become the President. That would make this a duplicate. Also if that is not the question being asked then this is to confusing to be betted on.

Background:

Recent stories have indicated that John McCain would beat or be in a statistical dead heat with the current possible Democratic candidates. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-poll27feb27,1,1824990.story Moreover, the American public has repeatedly indicated in polls that they believe the Iraq War to have been a mistake and that they want the troops to be brought home. John McCain has said both that he is willing to stay in Iraq for 1,000 years and that voting for a Democratic candidate is tantamount to surrendering to al Qaeda (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gwqEneBKUs). Essentially, this question is asking if the American public will give in to the politics of fear by voting against the candidates who appear to support their position.

Settlement details: To be settled as yes if John McCain wins the 2008 Presidential election.

If you vote "No" the terrorists win.

Although I disagree with your premise the general answer to your question is 'yes'. Just take a look at who is elected to Congress from both parties. Only masochists would consistently elect that bunch or clowns.

Markov, you got me thinking. Wouldn't Congress me more fun to watch if they actually were clowns? To be a good clown takes talent, athleticism. Plus pie fights would be a big plus.

Gradgrind, you are correct! - They do not rise even to the relatively lofty level of clowns. Rather, they spend their good days of public service stuffing graft into their freezers and frequenting airport washrooms. Pies and laught-racks are indeed the appropriate backdrop.
