When will the maiden flight of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner occur?

Settled as 2009 or later

Settled as NO as reports on November 5 said it would not occur in 2008. Settlement as of 5:10 PM CST on 11/4/08.

"Boeing said today it will delay the first flight of its 787 Dreamliner because of problems with the installation of fasteners and a crippling machinists strike that ended last weekend.

Everett (WA) - Boeing has hit a critical milestone on the way to getting its 787 Dreamliner up in the air. The company today said that it has powered on the first 787, preparing the plane for a complex series of tasks and tests that bring electrical power onto the airplane and begin to exercise the use of the electrical systems. The first flight remains on scheduled for later this year.

Boeing delays delivery of 787 again, ABN A Geoffrey Thomas | September 05, 2008
JETSTAR faces further delays of up to three months in the delivery of its Boeing 787-8s, with completion of the first aircraft slipping eight weeks.

While the Qantas offshoot is yet to be advised of any changes in the program, sources in Seattle told The Australian that the first flight of the 787 would be at the earliest in late December or, more likely, January.

A Boeing spokeswoman reaffirmed to industry journal Flight International this week that the 787 was on track for first flight for the fourth quarter of this year. But at the recent Farnborough Air Show, 787 vice-president Pat Shanahan conceded to media that he was eating into the margin's program between the first flight and the end of the year.
