Who'll last longer, Robert Mugabe or Hillary Clinton?

Settled as Mugabe

This market was in reference to the nomination. Now that it's clear she's leaving I'm settling the market as Mugabe.
Hmm.. Ruthless Dictator or Ruthless Politician, seems the one with the gun always wins

Background:

Background: Toby Harnden of the Telegraph points out the similarities between Mugabe and Clinton in their respective election races, both are behind in the votes and ignoring please from across the world to step down.

Zimbabwe's deputy information minister Bright Matonga as saying: “In meetings with Mr. Mugabe, we talked about how much he has in common with Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party nomination process in the United States. Like Hillary, Mr. Mugabe is behind in votes. In drawing a favorable comparison, we admire her fighting spirit, her unwillingness to let go when she's obviously behind and should quit as well as her decision to take this all the way to the Democratic Party convention in Denver."

Zimbabwe has now named the June 27th the date for the run-off election between Robert Mugabe and his opponent, Morgan Tsvangirai. The Democrat convention starts on August 25th. Will Clinton really hang on until then?

Settlement details:As reported by a major mainstream news source. Last longer means stay in power (Mugabe) or in the Democratic race/resultant presidency, if applicable (Clinton). Clinton will be considered to remain in the race up until she publically states she is quiting.

Nice work Nigel, you created a political question in which I would favor Hillary Clinton over somebody else. I don't think there's really much of a comparison between Zimbabwean and US presidential elections, but the arcane nomination process for the US Democratic party candidate may not be so far away ... Mugabe just needs some super delegates 8^)

(seriously, for Zimbabwe, let's hope not)

Actually, for once, I am in a WIN-WIN situation. If I lose my bet, poor Zimbabwe will win!

Zimbabwe lost with the David Owens/Andrew Young initiative: perhaps they will win this time...

Mugabe needs a shot of Crown Royal, too!

Regardless of outcome, both countries are destined to lose.

We don't even know if George Bush is going to go yet - maybe he will "construct" another emergency eg. Iran and take total control (I have been led to believe that legislation was passed that allows this) - and if we assume that the USA has lost the war in Iraq but is refusing to accept this, them we could ask - who will be the first to go - the USA out of Iraq or Mugabe

Although Obama is now the presumptive nominee, we need to wait for Clinton to drop out to settle this market. This is because Clinton hasn't actually ended this yet.

The settlement details say "Clinton will be considered to remain in the race up until she publically states she is quiting."

I don't think anyone says that has happened yet. If as rumored she suspends her campaign Saturday that's still not the same as quitting, because she'd still be retaining her delegates and presumably hoping that Obama will suffer a setback that makes the superdelegates move to her en masse.

HI harvey,

We know that a Clinton withdrawal is coming on Saturday as per her campaign. Also the emails she's released to her supporters are evidence that she will be suspending her campaign. Mitt Romney suspended his campaign as well after Super Tuesday but we settled markets asking if Romney would be the GOP nominee as no since it was a 99.9% chance that he wouldn't be the nominee. The same ruling is made here. Because we know she is publicly stating she is quitting on Saturday we can settle. Does that clear up the reasoning?
