At present, the Cupertino-based company and its wireless partners appear to be avoiding talk of a next-generation, 3G model strictly as a matter of policy. Always a showman, Apple chief executive Steve Jobs is likely to have planned a gala introduction for the handset at or before the company's annual developers conference set to kick off on June 9th.

Nevertheless, countless media reports and findings within resources of Apple's developmental iPhone software have revealed that the new phone should at they very least include 3G wireless and GPS capabilities.

For Apple, the stakes appear particularly high in India, where it along with Vodafone and just-announced partner Bharti Airtel will reportedly market the new handset through a staggering 250,000 Vodafone and Airtel retail outlets, including franchisee-owned shops.

It's reported that the rollout will be the largest in the world, handily dwarfing Apple's stateside plans that will see the device available in only about 7,000 AT&T and Apple retail locations pending any further developments.

Okay, so they sold 6 MILLION iPhones in 12 months, being in anywhere from ONLY 1 to 6 countries and selling for $399 - $599 ... NOW iPhone will be in 70 countries by Christmas AND selling for $199 - $299 ........... THEY SOOOOOOO WILL SELL 10 million by the end of 2008!!!!!!!! They are selling an average of 1.5 million a quarter, AND that was without 3G, AND for like $300 to $600, so yeah, they will MOST DEFINITELY sell another 4 million by years end!!!

OFFICIAL:

Apple sells 1 million iPhone 3Gs in first weekend

Despite widespread activation problems, Apple said Monday that it sold its one millionth iPhone 3G on Sunday, just three days after the new handset launched worldwide on Friday, July 11...

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster predicted sales of just 425,000 units in 3 days and 1 million units after 3 weeks, but instead, Apple announced this morning that they in fact reached the 1 million sales mark of the newest handset in less than 72 hours!!

Analysts are expecting Apple to sell an additional 5.1 million iPhones before this current quarter is out and another 6.5 million during the December quarter, bring worldwide iPhone sales since it launched just over a year ago, to well over 16 million units by January 2009.
