Caught the lack of reasonable odds to late. With the amount of traffic on the market may as well let it stay. Let "Mr. Xtreme" be warned though!

im surprised anyone thinks this is so unlikely... with the amount of mud flying about and the nature of politics either one of them could be out next week.

She's going to be the worst thing to happen to the Democratic party since Florida's hanging chads...

We've still got a month on this one bluejello, maybe she'll come to her senses after Penn.
posted 35 weeks ago
After 51 years you expect her to come to her senses next month?!?!? LOL
posted 34 weeks ago
she's broke! Not only is she broke, she is leaving a bunch of small business people out in the cold by not paying her bills for the services they have provided her campaign.

Also, the credibility for her "Universal Healthcare" plan took a big hit last week, as she discovered that she can't even pay the premiums for her campaign staff...

the end is near

theonecalledmichael -- I can appreciate your reasoning. The current President Bush has created a unique set of circumstances in which whomever follows him can't possibly screw things up as much. This is actually a great situation for either a woman or black president -- I say this as these are non-traditional demographics for an American president, not because I believe either of them to be less qualified than some grey-haired rich white guy.

If either Hillary or Obama screw it up even worse I don't think anyone can say "Well that's what you get for putting a _<insert gender/racial label here>_ in the White House!" because of the situation that Bush will have left the office in.

Its really a great opportunity for whichever candidate wins, as if they turn this country around, they will be a hero! If they fail, it will still somehow be Bush's fault.

Michael, lets refrain from the more colorful language. I had to get rid of that because it was a bit out of line. I know politics can get rough, but lets keep our cool.

mrbluejelo if whoever follows bush does even worse they will be impeached, forget blaming it on the last guy...
posted 34 weeks ago
People get impeached for HOW they do things, now necessarily WHAT they do. They get impeached for breaking the law. Or they get impeached by political opportunists. Bill Clinton was one of the most popular Presidents of our time, and he was impeached by a Republican congress who hated him, using the Monica Lewinsky scandal as the "moral justification".

Personally I think having a president who can expose himself to potential blackmail (such as "do this for my company or I expose our affair") is a breach of national security and is worthy of impeachment.

Do I care that Bill was just trying to get a little extramarital one-on-one time with an intern? Not really. Political leaders tend to be power hungry people and sexual conquests often help them support their egos. I think it comes with the territory. It doesn't make it right though, but that in itself is IMHO not an impeachable offense.

Nixon was impeached because he played a hand in breaking the law. Jimmy Carter was an unpopular and considered by many to be a weak president who made a lot of mistakes. However, he did not break the law. He was also not impeached.

Of course, being impeached isn't the end of the world...only if the impeachment is successful!

"but that in itself is IMHO not an impeachable offense." Lying under oath to a federal grand jury (concerning the cigar daliances or, anything else) was, however.

That depends on what "lying" means...

I think she will be gone after Penn too. Gov. Dean is calling the SUPERdelagates to declare now, Obama is catching up in the polls, Billary is not going to get her convincing win in Pa.

There is a chance Obama may take Pennsylvania -- albeit a slim one. After the primary, she is toast.

The only thing worst than bitter and clinging to religion and guns is being bitter about not having the Presidency handed to you on a silver platter you thought you were entitled to, then clinging to a campaign with no chance of victory.

I see Obama as a disruptive force in American politics. Not one disruptive to the interests of the American people -- he may be one of the few true patriots out there -- but disruptive to the corporate interests of those who wish to control the laws and those individuals who create them. He has taken no money from lobbiests, just 2,000,000+ donations from citizens, and owes few favors to any industry.

I cannot think of one industry that the Clintons DO NOT owe favors to. Bill is an interesting guy, but not a $109,000,000 interesting kind of guy. How many favors did he dole out during the 90's only to get "paid back" in bloated speaking and appearance fees?

Its also enlightening in hearing Hillary speak about how she takes credit for all the good that Bill did in office, then distances herself from unpopular things that her husband did -- like claiming to disagree about NAFTA when she was a proponent of it (watch the video!). I doubt if she will have the same luxury attempting to seperate herself from the favors and backroom dealings that it took to get her husband elected.

Politicians who disrupt the interests of the powerful have a history of being dealt with in America. Perhaps if someone decides to deal with Obama the same way that Louis T. McFadden, John F. Kennedy or Martin Luther King Jr. have been dealt with, a prime opportunity would be presented to Senator Clinton.

I can't imagine her playing a role in the planning and execution of such a plan, however if it were to happen I'm sure she would do her "patriotic duty" and take his place in November. This can't possibly be what she is pinning her hopes on...however the other possible reasons for her to remain in this race are equally absurd. If it is, our political system has far more severe problems than hanging chads and disenfranchised voters to contend with.

"Hillary cites RFK assassination in explaining why she's still in race"
May 23, 2008
http://www.politico.com/blogs/jonathanmartin/0508/Hillary_cites_RFK_assasination_in_explaining_why_shes_still_in_race.html

...
Hillary Clinton today cited the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy during the 1968 presidential campaign to explain why she was remaining in the race despite long odds.

"We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California," Clinton told the editorial board of a South Dakota newspaper.
...

Hillary is just sick.

We're all forgetting something here...Why should she quit? Why would it be advantageous to Hillary to quit? Why shouldn't she stick it out? How would it benifit Hillary, Inc. to quit? Afterall, this is about Hillary Clinton, not the Democratic Party.
posted 27 weeks ago
How would it benefit Hillary, Inc. to quit? Well, she could stop accumulating in excess of $30 million of campaign debt. She could stop leaving small businesses who provide services to her campaign in the lurch for payment. She could stop making an embarrassment of herself on the campaign trail to preserve her chance of taking ANY elected office in the future.

But you are right, the Clintons are in it for Hillary, Inc., there is no low she won't stoop to in pursuit of an advantage.
