Will Obama forego public financing for the General Election in 2008?
Settled as Obama Does Not Accept Public Financing
By not accepting public financing, Obama can raise and spend a lot more money than McCain who probably will accept Federal funding.
From a New York Times article (04/10/08):
"No major-party candidate has turned down public financing for the general election since the system took effect in 1976. But while $84.1 million for the two-month fall campaign is a sizable amount of money, Mr. Obama’s fund-raising machine has shown an ability to eclipse the figure easily, having raised $55 million in February alone and an additional $40 million in March."
