No one will dare mention this for fear of humiliating their green supporters, who have yet to acknowledge the consequences of devoting more farmland resources to alternative fuel production and less for food production. Just MHO.

Obama is a great speaker with just one fault - He never says anything specific. He is the master of platitudes. He would not link the two concepts due to his lack of presenting specifics. Hillary might, but I simply doubt if she will.

Great question! Turning FOOD into fuel is moronic. This situation was easily forecast long ago. There is no doubt about it: Somewhere in this world a substantial number of people will die of starvation for the singular purpose of making certain dim-witted environmentalist extremists and self-serving politicians feel good about themselves.

bloomberg.com — U.K. fuels for cars and trucks must contain biofuels starting today, a move that may do more harm than good to the environment and drive food prices higher.

From what I have read, it takes between 1-1.3 gallons of gasoline to produce 1 gallon of ethanol. The only green that applies to this situation is the greenbacks used for campaign contributions by the lobbyists for the agriculture industry.

Hey mork,

It all depends on who the Hubdubbers are. Could Obama be a secret Hubdubber, or Hillary (gaming the system by deciding whether to cry or not 8^), maybe even Karl Rove (who has had his first taste of coolness, since he bought an iPhone). Possibly elements of the mainstream media have infiltrated Hubdub seeking questions to ask the candidates. Inquiring conspiracy theorists want to know 8^)

That's a good point, american. In all these questions we must factor in the. . .um . . .fact; that we hubdubbers are not just generic beings but rather all have a story to tell. As agreed, the outcomes can be influenced by the predictors. I consider it more of a concern with regards to the questions trying to predict the events regarding Spitzer's prostitution ring.

No doubt, this is a question that attracts the above average citizen as it requires adequate and accurate information with all mitigating factors taken into account rather than hasty generalizations. Therefore, I conclude that it is highly unlikey that this topic will surface in the upcoming debate and if in the unlikely event that the issue is broached, it will be from Obama.

colleen,

The distinction you make between voters, those using "adequate and accurate information with all mitigating factors taken into account rather than hasty generalizations", is one of the most accurately concise definitions I have seen. "Hasty generalizations" of matters of importance are often a product of intellectual laziness, lack of education, questionable intelligence, and/or abject self-absorption. The primary underpinning of such generalizations is emotion, the perfect vehicle with which to drive a wedge between those of reasonably sound character and intelligence and those lacking such.
