Will the combined low temperatures (celsius) of Bangs (TX) and Intercourse (PA) be below 0 degrees on Tuesday, February 12th?

Unless I misunderstand the question, the 2/12 forecasted low for Bangs Tx is 35f and for Intercourse, it's 33f. The combined total is 68f or 35c. How then are the odds set at 55% yes? Flagged...

You're not doing the math in the correct form and order. The Celsius temp for BAngs would be about 2 degrees C and the one for Intercourse about 1 degree celsius...using your data...therefore the combined temp would be only about 3 degrees celsius...I saw data indicating the Intercourse temp might be several degrees below freezing, so there is a reasonable chance of the prediction going either way.....

The real problem is that you can't combine temperatures, period. You can add two numbers up, but they don't have anything to do with temperature anymore unless you divide by two and make an average... which is why you can't convert back and forth from Celsius and Fahrenheit like this. 100F is not "twice as hot" as 50F, just as 30C is not "twice as hot" as 15C. (In thermodynamics, you could make an argument that 300 Kelvin (27C) is "twice as hot" as 150 Kelvin (-123C), but nobody uses Kelvin outside a physics or chemistry calculation.)

A better question would be "Will the average temperature of Bangs and Intercourse be below freezing (0C, 32F) on Feb 12th". It gives the same answer and makes more sense.

Shouldn't be flagged. The question is very clear. If Bangs, TX reaches 10 degrees and Intercourse, PA reaches -9, the answer would be 1 degree C (10+(-9)), or No, the combined temperatures did not go below 0. I think this is a fun question.
