Will the next elected Vice President of the United States be a man or a woman?

Settled as A man will be elected as Vice President

Now we know there could potentially be the first woman VP in American History. This election will either elect the first African American president or the first Woman Vice President

Sarah Palin bio
Sarah Louise Heath Palin (IPA: /peɪlɪn/) (born February 11, 1964) is the current Governor of Alaska, and the presumptive 2008 Republican candidate for Vice President of the United States.[1] She will be the first female Vice Presidential candidate representing the Republican Party and the second female Vice Presidential candidate representing a major political party.

Born in Idaho and raised in Alaska, Palin played point guard on her high school's basketball team. She was the 1984 runner-up in the Miss Alaska pageant, receiving a scholarship that allowed her to attend the University of Idaho, where she received a degree in journalism. After working as a sports reporter at an Anchorage television station, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla, Alaska, City Council from 1992 to 1996, was elected mayor of Wasilla (population 5,470 in 2000) in 1996, and ran unsuccessfully for Lieutenant Governor in 2002. She was elected Governor of Alaska in 2006 by first defeating incumbent governor Frank Murkowski in the Republican primary, then former Democratic Alaskan governor Tony Knowles in the general election. She gained attention for publicizing ethical violations by state Republican Party leaders.[2]
Joe Biden bio
Joe Biden has represented the state of Delaware in the United States Senate since 1972, when he was elected at the age of twenty-nine. Senator Biden is recognized as a leader in foreign policy, as well as one of the nation's most influential voices on terrorism, drug policy, and crime. Nationally, Senator Biden has earned a reputation for working on a bipartisan basis with Republican colleagues and bringing real results that matter to Americans.

Throughout Senator Biden's career in public service, the people of Delaware have remained his first priority. From preserving White Clay Creek and miles of Delaware's coastline, to putting hundreds more cops on the state's streets, to fighting to cover healthcare costs for all of Delaware's children, Senator Biden is working to improve the lives of Delawareans.

Senator Biden's legislative initiatives often have an immediate impact in Delaware. For example, Delaware was one of the first states to take advantage of the federal resources made available by Senator Biden's Adam Walsh Act, which helps protect children against predators. And fourteen years after Senator Biden first wrote and passed the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), its programs are still caring for, training, and providing for victims in Delaware.

Agriculture remains Delaware's biggest industry and Senator Biden is committed to preserving Delaware's farming tradition. He believes that the term "family farm" should never become a Delaware legend.

As the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Senator Biden's top foreign policy priority is bringing home American troops without leaving chaos behind in Iraq. Senator Biden and Les Gelb, President Emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, have offered a five-point plan that offers a political solution to ending the war - a plan overwhelming endorsed by his Senate colleagues by a 75-23 vote.

If each candidate choses a male then we will settle as male as soon as announcments are made. Same if both candidates choose female vp we would then settle as female. Question will remain open till election day if one candidate chooses female and another choose male.
I don't like markets that tie up users money for long period of time if it can be prevented.

vice presidents are not elected...
posted 35 weeks ago
They used to be, it was the runner up in the presidential race....imagine that: a balance of power in the executive branch! It would always be a rep and a dem.....but, alas, our two parties got together and decided to end that....

True, vice-presidents aren't elected as such, but I believe they are part of the elected team chosen by the electors...I thought about the phrasing, but felt that the term elected would serve the purpose of the question...

And the option for 'other'...I thought about it too, but decided not to complicate the resolution of the question...didn't want Olympic-like gender testing to become an issue.....

While the vice-presidential candidate does not go through the PRIMARY system, the PEOPLE elect a TEAM that consists of more than just the president, far more than the president and vice-president...a whole MACHINE rolls into Washington, and another one rolls OUT...

@jwilson - oh no, that is depressing, if true. Anyway, I read it here on Hubdub first!

Vice presidents ARE elected, by the electoral college, same as with the president. Neither one is elected by the people directly. The president and vice president are not elected in combination -- the ballots are completely separate.

unless, of course, you're in Chicago...y'know, "Vote early and vote often!"

I believe that Markc is correct...I think that the Electoral COllege approves both the President and Vice-President separately...in theory, an elector can vote for whomever they wish...We 'choose' people to 'choose' our President and Vice-President...

@ markc

I'm compelled to comment on your comments, this is a couple of times now recemtly that you've chosen to spice up your comments with one of the only words that is generally taboo in English... "wtf?" and now "Look it the f*** up." Mark C, I'm sure it won't surprise you to learn that this is generally frowned on by the majority of online users and does not enhance either your perception or the perception of this site. I'd invite you to be a little more creative and a little less vulgar please. Granted, I did hear a hilarious audio clip once describing the amazing versatility of this word within the English lexicon, which, when used carefully can be used for virtually every word in a sentence. For example, imagine the following sentence describing a person who is exasperated with a device that won't function:

"F***ing F***! The F***ing F***er won't F***! F***!
