<B>HUBDUB TAG</B>
Anybody have any sugestions as to how to impalement a game of HD tag into another question?
1) create a question about a promising, uprising topic
2) tag it accordingly with 3 mutual tags
3) tag the question to 3 friends
4) each of the friends creates 1 question, inspired by an aspect of the first question
5) the new questions should have 3 tags of their own, where at least 1 should be the inherited from the original question
this way it allows the question to "mutate" from the original making it easier to create follow ups.
valid follow ups for the LEGO house question (http://www.hubdub.com/m48881/James_May_is_buliding_a_full_sized_LEGO_househow_many_bricks_will_he_use)
could be
http://www.hubdub.com/m49105/LEGO_House_How_many_nights_will_James_May_sleep_in_the_house_
or something asking about James May and then asking for some BBC related stuff and so on - it would spread and broaden the topics.
ideas?

I don't think we have to be so binding on the number of tags or using the same tag. Just looking at the diversity we got on the last topic shows that people can really think outside the box.
It would be really great if we could think of an event happening in about a month or so.. short term enough to keep things interesting, but enough time for plenty of people to participate. I can't think of anything though! The only big date I can think of coming up is 9/11 which isn't exactly a fun topic to come up with Qs for...

i agree with jenni. kruijs's has me confused with his idea. you gotta remeber theres dumb guys like me on HD. one example that comes to mind is the BIG tv award shows. like say the oscars. jenni would have to lay out some guidelines. you might end up with some questions that require jenni to watch the oscars through a magnifying glass. maybe madonna will marry george bush live on tv in the near future. now that would make for some interesting questions. :O)
haven thought about it a second time:
in fact, what we are doing here is to motivate buddies to create questions inspired by a question you created yourself. this is like asking for a response to your question.
this mechanism is close to the "video responses" as used by youtube. see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNPkD7Mhxxs beneath the video player you'll notice a "Video Responses" sections which contains one video.
in our case, I could imagine a box on the question screen according to "related tags", "news in ..." and "More questions by". in this case, it would list questions which were created in response to the shown question.
the only change to the system would be a new property of the question: "In Response To", containing a reference to the first question (not user editable). the question creation process doesn't have to change much but there has to be a "New question in response to this" button on a question in addition to the existing "New question" button which would set the "In Response To" property accordingly.

Lovely thought, but never going to happen. Any ideas we have, must be absolutely 0 development work. I think the simple scenario that diesel had is fine, with the only difference being that all 3 people you tag have to be left shouts on their profile with a short explanation of the TAG and a link to the original question. And.. perhaps we all agree on a single unique tag for the questions so its easy to see them all.. like the last one could have been named "dog tag" or something.
The bigger deal in my opinion is finding another topic that has room for a lot of questions. The award shows are long and boring and I certainly won't be agreeing to any questions that means I have to watch them... plus they're a long way away :)
The only thing I could think of was Christmas questions, but again that's a long time from now too.

my first proposal was to make clear that the questions made in response should be able to deviate slightly from the original topic. the start of a new dog_tag round would only be a specific point, but derived questions should be allowed to "drift" (topically spoken). it would make the selection of an initial topic easier, because it could be a lesser epic one. I agree about the "keep it simple" strategy, so my tagging guidelines I proposed might be overdone.
Ok then:
I gave it a try: http://www.hubdub.com/m49368/LEGO_House_How_long_will_it_exist_after_opening_
Now must become friends with dieseldog to tell him he is TAGGED !

hey, jenni,
since you said "but never going to happen", I just had to prove you wrong. Well, not exactly. It hasn't been done by hubdub - but by me ;-)
