Bush: the worst president in history?
There are a lot of articles by historians debating whether Bush will go down in history as "one of the worse," or simply "the worst."
one example:

For balance, here's an article saying history will look back kindly on George W. Bush.

I'm not a historian, so I can't say whether he is the worst in history. But he is easily the worst in my lifetime. Even Nixon, the only president to resign in disgrace, is known for some accomplishments: the National Environmental Policy Act and opening up our relationship with China. Bush and his cronies pretty much destroyed our environmental laws, allowed torture to be debated rather than condemned, spent all our money and then some, and ruined our standing in the world in so many, many ways.
He is one of the worst presidents ever and not only that he is probably the most stupid. Stupid people are dangerous and this rings true in what he did. My god he could not even run a baseball team.
He allowed Cheney to run the country because he is so lazy and stupid. He wanted to best his father. How is that for rationale? He still has no comprehension nor does he care about what he has done to his country. He is NO patriot nor is he a decent human being. He is hated around the world as well as here. I blame him for all the destruction he has wrought on the United States of America.

I believe he will be remembered as the worst president in history. If you've travelled at all, you'd know that he is hated universally. Who makes war on a country that has done nothing to the United States? He did and at what cost? Remember Shock and Awe? Ick Remember his 'Mission Accomplished' photo op? Gawd.

Bush will be remembered as a president who unecessarily involved the United States in two foreign wars that had to do, not with preserving freedom, but on the surface, with security, and in truth, with oil. He will also be remembered for authorizing the use of torture, setting up a concentration camp in Cuba, making incredibly stupid comments almost uncontrollably, and for choosing the nastiest, ugliest, most Machievellian vice president in US history. He will be remembered for spying on innocent US citizens, having an almost pathological desire to prove himself as good as his father, and for being a drunk. Whether or not he was a drunk while he was president remains to be seen, but I suspect a post-mortem will show that Bush did a lot of drinking on the job.
Yes. He is the worst. Worse than Andrew Jackson with his shameful 'trail of tears' crap.
He's not the 'Decider'. He's the Decimator.
I can't recall not one other War Criminal in our office. Nobody can top him. He wins.

Nobody compares to how bad FDR was. He lengthend the great depression with his wasteful government programs. It was his decision to hold back the allied forces to wait for Russia to take East Germany. He sent shiploads of US gold to support Stalin while leading Winston Churchill to believe he was not helping Russia. He helped Stalin redraw the map in Europe as if questions of liberty and soverignty were only minor details in his ideology. He gave us Social Security, which is one of his longer lasting domestic crimes. I could go on - he was able to remain popular because of the limited news and fear that was prevalent at the time, but history shows his "contributions" in their true light.
