Bush: the worst president in history?

  21 jsevigny
When one is a poor student of history, one looks to historians. Which is why I put two links at the top of this page, one praising Bush and one pounding him.

From US News and World Report:

President Bush often argues that history will vindicate him. So he can't be pleased with an informal survey of 109 professional historians conducted by the History News Network. It found that 98 percent of them believe that Bush's presidency has been a failure, while only about 2 percent see it as a success. Not only that, more than 61 percent of the historians say the current presidency is the worst in American history. In 2004, only 11.6 percent of the historians rated Bush's presidency in last place. Among the reasons given for his low ratings: invading Iraq, "tax breaks for the rich," and alienating many nations around the world. Bush supporters counter that professional historians today tend to be liberal and that it's too early to assess how his policies will turn out.

MmmmK, I have located an outside source:

mary Says:

Worst president ever.

I plucked this off the comment section of an article titled " Bush Enjoys Vacation As Gaza Burns". In the report it says he will be riding his bicycle today and spending time with Laura.

Yeah, maybe that makes sense - we all remember the peace in the middle east during the Clinton administration, and admire how Barack races off to hide in Hawaii as if this is not even a blip on his radar... he saves his statements from the imaginary "Office of the President Elect" for important things like protesting his innocence in the Blagojevich case. (Blagojevich is innocent too - I heard him announce it myself, so times are good)

NN, there's a pointed difference between Clinton, Bush and Obama. The first 2 CAN be judged for their presidencies, Obama is NOT the President yet.

As for your ridiculous fox news like statement ' barack races off to hide in hawaii '....it's his Christmas Vacation. He hardly 'raced' there and what the f do you expect him to do really? We HAVE a sitting president. Well, he's also a bicycling president, a golfing president, a wood cutting president....where the hell is GEORGE every time a levee breaks, a bomb is dropped, a plane is flown into a building? Off picking his nose, phoning it in from somewhere else is where.

You people and yeah, I mean people like YOU, are so far out there with your accusations about Obama it blows my mind.

Oh look, Obama just SAT there in his 3rd grade classroom while William Ayers planted bombs.
Oh look, the economy is crumbling under Bush, undoubtedly Obama, Fannie and Freddie caused this global crises.
I've heard it all...he is responsible for the job losses to date here, he'll only make things worse when he takes office, israel is going to be destroyed...he's been blamed for wrecking everything yet he isn't doing enough as president ELECT to save us all from the greed of the neo cons and their zionist pals.

Spare me.

LOL - it looks like this generated some conversation :-)

However, comment #23 was made tongue in cheek. (Just to clear up any misunderstandings) I do wonder at Barack's choice to avoid Hawaii until now though - if I were him, I would have tried to carve out some time to at least attend a memorial service for a grandmother. I know he is busy and all... still family ties are pretty important, and I know the public would understand if he took time out for that.

FYI, Obama DID attend a memorial for grandma on Dec 23rd. In case you haven't noticed, he's busy putting a team together to attempt to be ready on day one when he actually IS president and he's handed about the worst scenario in the history of our country.

But no matter what he does or doesn't do you manage to find fault. You solidify the point I was making in post #24.

Anything else you'd care to bitch about?

Never before have so many hated so deeply. Bush has given rise to this sentiment.

No Pres on his way out has ever received this kind of a send off. He deserves that and SO much more.

This debate has been settled now that Bush has literally been boo'd out of office by more than a million Americans so patriotic that they were willing to endure freezing cold and historically large crowds to hear our new president speak. Historians will never be able to overlook the fact that Bush, in a moment that not even Nixon could've imagined, was mocked by millions of people gathered in the most symbolically patriotic place in America as he handed over the reigns of power to a man whose middle name is Hussein. The Republican party is dead. "Republican morals" are dead. The Bush era (everyone raise a glass) is finally over.

Now...let the criminal investigations begin.
