Congradulations to President Obama.

As many of you know i'm a right winger. I'm an American first, and a conservative American after that. I wish Mr Obama all the luck in the world in getting the economy turned around, and fighting the war on terror.

i'll keep my obama bashing to a minimum for at least a week. that 100 day honeymoon don't aplly to us right wingers..well at least to this right winger. i know alot of folks have what i call a extreme dislike of bush. i give him credit for being an american first in the sense he helped obama with a smooth transtion. obama beat him up pretty good for 2 years. some mighta took it personally and tried to get even. i'm not looking to have a debate over bush policy, or what obama promised in the campaign. just wishing mr obama goodluck and hope he can do whats necessary to get the greatest country on earth back on track. no offense to any other country..my american pride shining through. :O)

Thank you, diesel, for your true patriotism and human dignity in starting this post. We disagree on probably everything, you and I. But I appreciate this gesture.

We have had a difficult eight years, Republicans and Democrats alike. I don't think the people who died in Iraq (Americans or Iraqis) were Democrats or Republicans. I don't think the people impacted during 9-11 would have defined themselves as Democrats or Republicans. So now, maybe we have a chance to define ourselves as citizens of the world and fine Americans.

At the very least, we can agree that a new administration marks the opportunity for a new beginning. Whether Obama makes the best of it or not, only time will tell. Whether Bush made the best of his eight years is clearly a matter we will never agree on.

In the meantime, I think we should all congratulate President Obama for taking a job few of us would ever want, and far fewer of us could ever get. We should try to work together now to make the next eight years our best eight years.

I couldnt agree more with you diesel. After Obama won the election i was torn between taking down or putting up my anti obama signs. Then a friend of mine mentioned that it wasnt very patriotic to not support our president. Of course hes a giant hypocrite because he protested at bushes inaguration claiming that he wasnt elected fairly but still. So, in the interest of national security i will at least give the appearance of a united nation.

Also, jsevigny, 8 years? Yeah right. More like 4 years. At the most. 2012 belongs to Mike huckabee.

Well I was going to thank you guys for your kind sentiments congratulating O and all, but then I saw that Huckabee 2012 comment and I'm afraid I began to laugh so hard I forgot what I was going for here.

Indeed, please run Huck in 12. And pair him w/ Palin or better yet, flip that ticket and have a go.
By then it's a given she'll need a new wardrobe and have figured out what she reads.

I like it! Palin/Huckabee 2012! Lets wait 6 months before we start though. Of course its a given that obama will probably stop working to campaign, after all he started his campaigning last time 3 1/2 years before the election so lets hope he can get at least some work done in 6 months.

I'm going to ignore the swipe taken at Obama to revel in the amazement I feel over us both agreeing a Palin/Huckabee ticket is THE answer to who the GOP should run in 12.

Now, the only thing I really need to see happen is for those crusty right wing justices to start dropping like flies so O can appoint some fresh progressive types in our Supreme Court.
