Question about settling questions!
This is not a complaint, or a moan, but I am curious about the criteria used for determining when the outcome of a question is viewed as being "known".
Yesterday I saw in the news a statement made by Manchester Utd saying that they would not be signing Carlos Tevez. Therefore, I decided to stick some $ on that outcome of "Will Carlos Tevez sign a permanent contract with Manchester Utd this summer?". I now see that the question has been settled and all bets placed after the news story was announced have been "cut off" and returned.
I had presumed judging by some other questions I have seen that they are kept open until the last possible moment that they could occur. For example, Sunderland have appointed Steve Bruce as their new manager but the "Who will be manager of Sunderland on the first day of the 2009/10 season?" is still open, presumably because he could be sacked prior to then though it would be exceptionally unlikely for that to occur.
But, if that is the basis then surely the same applies for Tevez - we won't know if he will sign for Manchester Utd until the end of the Summer Transfer window, even though following a statement by the club it now appears exceptionally unlikely? After all, players and clubs have performed u-turns in the past!
So I'm a little confused and would like some clarification please?

elvis - you need to contact the admin and state your case. i don't wanna give you bad info and this is a tricky situation. "generally" a question is suspended when a settlement request is sent in. the admin reviews the link then settles the question. usually the link has the time the story was posted..ie the cut off time for when one coulda made a wager. if no admin answers you here in the next few days you can use the "contact" at the bottom of the page to send an email to the big chiefs at HD. goodluck.
Probably the Sunderland manager question should be settled. Try making a settlement request on that question.
