Questions being settled too early
I've noticed a trend of questions being settled too early. This is getting annoying. I know some people don't want to tie up there H$ for too long but others (like me) would like the question to be settled right the first time.
An example of an admin jumping the gun:

A question that I created which was settled over a month before the event:

I too prefer a question to be settled right the first time instead of settled early. Here is another example

both your examples point out a difference in interpretation: settle on announcement or settle on event. Hubdub settles on announcement (from a appropriate instance).
this is actually a practice which contradicts the rules which state "Settlement occurs whenever it becomes public knowledge that the question can be conclusively answered. This may be because an event has occurred or because an event has failed to occur and the stated question period has run out." (http://www.hubdub.com/public/help#questions)
thus, to settle before the suspend date has reached, the event must occur.
the exempts to this are stated in the rules. this is where it gets hairy:
"If something is 99.9% certain then we will tend to settle it." and "If there is a consensus among main stream news sources that something will happen then we will generally settle it as having occurre [sic]": the need for the event to occur is contradicted.
and besides, there still is the Spitzer clause ... some might remember
so, if Ferrari announces and MSM report that Schumacher is going to race, it's probably settable.
if it was not intended, and to be sure on this, the question creator should explicitly state that his question may not be settled on announcement.
but, to be fair, I personally would rather like those questions to be open until the event actually occurs.
