Religious Repression
The Evangelical broadcasting corporation has been forced to kill a comedy show about Jesus after complaints from viewers.
The Evangelische Omroep (EO), one of many confessional TV stations in the Dutch public broadcasting system, had announced plans for a comedy show in which non-religious comedians were asked to poke fun at Jesus. But the show was cancelled before it was aired after EO viewers threatened to cancel their membership.
The show's host, said he was disappointed by the decision. "The format was a unique opportunity to challenge prejudices and to start an open and honest conversation about Jesus. It's a pity that we have been denied this opportunity,"

Beliefs are funny things. My mind pictures a person with hands over their ears screaming, "No, No, No! I don't want to listen since I already have heard what I wish to know." There are very few wise ones who are comfortable enough to say, "You are different. Share why you feel as you do so I may understand how we are alike, too."
