hubdub rocks
trying out the bells and whistles of the forums. now i'm gonna be late for an appointment playing in the forums :O)
Heya deisil. I personally think that adding these forums was a bad idea. It is going to detract from the amount of comments going into questions and they are much harder to follow. For me the best part of hubdub was the comments! if it wernt for that i probably wouldnt be playing! I already have 10 different tabs going for different questions and now i have to add these forums to that list? Maybe im just being critical. After all when phones came out people said they would never catch on.
dragonfangxl, I don't think there's very much overlap between comments and the forum. As far as I can tell, the forum isn't for discussion related to existing questions, but rather for discussion which doesn't fit into a specific question.
Im just saying that there is little chance that this website can compete with other sites devoted purley to forums. They should stick with what they are best at. Predicting news.
I could be mistaken, but I believe the intent for the forums isn't for general discussion, but specifically discussion aimed towards helping new users, possible ideas and suggestions for the site, etc.
I think the idea behind these forums is to support the prediction participants, by offering support, mostly to new users. Once new users get comfortable with the Hubdub concept, then they start richly adding to the diversity and depth of the site, by creating new questions and adding to existing comments. That alone is a benefit to the website overall.
It will also be useful to discuss technical issues with the website as they occur, and to provide an easy way to give feedback on Hubdub to the administrators and owners of the website.
If these were to turn into strictly political forums, then I agree - it would be a bad idea.
This should NOT become a place to vent anger over failed politics,
or to selectively quote news stories that support / dispute a current political controversy.

my concern is the amount of gaming that goes on (indies) and the answer in my mind is that one person only be allowed say four or less wagers at these and not multiples that currently is the case this will give every one a go and i must say i agree with the comments here of dragonfangxl
Thank you. @chattarra and neuronexmachina clearly taht is not the case considering that this forum "Hubdub rocks" has nothing to do with helping new users. Clearly if that was the point of all these forums theve already failed.
the purpose of the forum is to help users with their concerns. i made this one in the practice area. i was just seeing how it works. now if i have a real concern i know how to make a "subject." neuronexmachina has it right imho. the forum is not a "chatroom" nor a replacement for the comment section of HD. have a nice day and goodluck.
Eh. We will see. i think that the practice area is going to accumulate about a 1000 "practice forums". Do they delete these after a certain period of time?
