Twelve-year old Brooke Bennett was dropped off at a convenience store in Randolph, Vermont, by her uncle. This story make me shudder, prayers out to the Bennett family, hopefully option # 1 will be settlement and the only trauma will be the rebuke from her family for causing such anquish with what appears to be a very bad and immature decision. Hopefully the FBI is being pressed into service on this also. Hopefully the RCMP has been alerted also, it's not THAT far of a drive to Canada.

He should have been killed long ago, this country aborts babies by the millions but does everything in its power to stop the execution of completely sick pedophiles like this.

God bless that girl, only the innocent suffer in this world.

this is why I could not believe that the Supreme Court decision was to not execute child rapists
posted 21 weeks ago
  7 destry[Admin]
The decision not to execute child rapists was made with the thinking that it would help save lives on the victims. If the person committing child rape was to receive the death penalty for the act, there would be no reason to leave the child alive.
It comes down to the reason for having a prison system. We imprison people for either rehabilitation, retribution, deterrence, or to keep them away from the masses. The death penalty has always been the deterrence part of that.

sad to say many of these pedophiles kill these children anyway after sexually assaulting them because they dont want to be identified...a few keep them as sex slaves...but too many children are dying from sex crimes and none of these pedophiles, as far as I am concerned, can ever be rehabilitated...their families protect them, ie Couey, this scum uncle, etc...once a pedophile always a pedophile

destry> And that is what is meant by "legislating from the bench." The outcome of the death sentence threat, as you state, may be true. That it would tend to urge the rapist to kill. But, that is the legislature’s decision, not the judiciary's. The only thing that the court was to decide was; is the death penalty constitutional? Not the wisdom of applying it.
It was a bad decision, constitutionally.

@erik...the court wasn't deciding if death penalty is constitutional..thats been decided. they was deciding if applying it to child rapist was cruel and unusual punishment.

I realize that, dieseldog...perhaps I was being too brief. I was referring to the death penalty for child rape. My point is- The wisdom of applying that punishment is not for the court to decide. Only its constitutionality (ie. is it cruel and unusual punishment). The court erred in the majority opinion when instances such as destry was referring to were cited. That is not the Court's place. That is crossing the line into legislating.
