Will all the Gold Medalists in Swimming be wearing Speedo's new LZR suit?

Settled as No

Pellegrini wearing Jaked, wins 200m women's freestyle

Background:

Background: Swimmers wearing Speedo's new LZR Racer swimsuit have broken 38 of the 42 world records to fall this year.

The LZR has sparked a lawsuit and international controversy as critics have labeled it "technological doping" and swimmers around the world have fought for the right to wear it in Beijing.

World records have not fallen anywhere near this pace since 2000, the last time the pre-Olympic buzz was more about the suits than the swimmers in them.

"I've been getting those (suit questions) instead of the usual ones," Phelps says.

Tested in NASA wind tunnels and approved by the sport's international governing body, the suit reduces drag with ultrasonically bonded seams and enhances buoyancy with a lightweight, water-repellent fabric.

I say no. They are going to be banned before anyone gets a gold record for them!

define all, all US swimmers or all Olympic swimmers?
posted 1 year ago
All swimmers. Many teams are breaking their contracts with other swimwear companies (Adidas, TYR) to wear the new suit. Australia and US, favorites for many swimming events will all be wearing it.

BTW I noticed Phelps and a couple others were just wearing the bottoms during the trials - that will count. They don't have to be wearing the whole suit.

Am I understanding the article properly when they are saying that there are two types of these suits, those made by LZR and Tracer?
posted 1 year ago
Nah theres only one. I don't know anything about a tracer
posted 1 year ago
TYR has a suit called the Tracer which they claim to be comparable to the LZR. Not everyone else agrees... (Vendt said it was coming apart on him!) Anyway, this market is only about the Speedo LZR.

BEIJING (AP) - The start of the Olympic swimming competition is two days away and many athletes still don't know which swimsuits they are going to wear.

Such pool powers as Italy, Japan and host China have each set aside ties with suppliers to give their swimmers the opportunity to wear Speedo's revolutionary LZR Racer or other comparable high-tech suits.

Of the 48 world records set this year, including both long- and short-course, 44 of them were accomplished by swimmers wearing the LZR.

Italy recently broke its long-standing contract with Arena and switched to a new Italian supplier, Jaked. Nike-sponsored China has followed suit, while Japan dropped its exclusive arrangement with domestic suppliers.

So who will wear which suit?

"You'll find out on the day we compete," Japan coach Koji Ueno said Thursday.

... Not gay or anything....

It stands to reason that if 44 out of the 48 records were set with the swimsuits, i think the thought that is going through everyones mind is 4 records were set without them.
