Will Merrill Lynch file for bankruptcy in the next year?

Settled as No

Settled as NO....the acquistion of Merrill Lynch, though not completed as of yet, has safeguarded the company from bankruptcy as of now. Only if the deal falls through and Merrill Lynch stands on its own again will there be a prospect of bankruptcy in its future. So since there will apparently be no independent Merrill Lynch, then there will be no bankruptcy.

Question is suspended pending further review....this news should protect Merrill Lynch from bankruptcy and we should be able to settle soon....related news, bold is mine:

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2009, the statement said. It has been approved by directors of both companies and is subject to shareholder votes at both companies and standard regulatory approvals.
