Will Robinho sign for Chelsea?

Settled as No

Manchester City have smashed the British transfer record by signing the Real Madrid winger Robinho for £32.4m.

http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Robinho-Signs-For-Manchester-City-For-Record-Fee-Of-324-Million-Pounds/Article/200809115091084

Background:

The flamboyant front man has been mentioned as potential leverage in any deal involving Ronaldo and Manchester United, but the 24-year-old is not thought to be overly keen on a move to Old Trafford.

BBC reports that Robinho is on the list of targets drawn up by Chelsea's new manager, Robinho's fellow countryman Luiz Felipe Scolari.

i don't know much about soccer, but espn has been reporting at least since 6:15 pm EST 7-15-08 that a "robinho" signed with i think AC milan? don't take this as legit knowledge. i could have the name and team mixed up. i know it was a soccer stud...they was running a "breaking news" in the scroll.

Me-thinks there are more rumors about Robinho and Lampard than there are for Angelina, Spears, Hilton and Madonna combined.

dieseldog: that's a ronaldinho who signed with AC Milan. Robinho didn't do that.

"ROME (AFP) — Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho has agreed to leave Barcelona, where he was deemed surplus to requirements, and sign for AC Milan in a deal reported to be worth 30 million dollars."

I don't think Real will let him go now that they've failed to sign Ronaldo from Man U.

"He is staying in Madrid and there is no possibility of going back on that," Calderon said, according to AS.

The Brazilian forward held a personally arranged press conference on Sunday after being left out of the squad to face Deportivo and took a swipe at Los Merengues.

Chelsea have made it clear that they are willing to pay him €6m-per-year and have made two bids, but Madrid will not sell until they have bought a new player and that has infuriated Robinho.

"I have told Schuster and Pedja that I want to leave the club," Robinho told reporters.

"My agent has gone to the club a thousand times to speak to them and the club has not shown any interest in keeping me.

"Now that the club have failed to sign anyone else, suddenly they want me to stay."

The one option that the former Santos star now has is to buy out his own contract and then move to Stamford Bridge, but with the price of that move costing €50m Chelsea are weighing up their options.
