My Predictions

Which type of matchup will compete Feb 1st in Tampa @ Super Bowl XLIII?

Current forecast: "Western" team vs. a Solo team (31% chance2%)
Combining all predictions, the current most likely outcome is "Western" team vs. a Solo team with a probability of 31% (down 2% in last 1 day)

Market is looking to forecast matchup for Super Bowl XLIII. I’ve grouped both AFC and NFC teams into three “categories” each. Make a prediction on the kind of matchup that you anticipate for the championship game in Tampa on February 1st, 2009 in Tampa, Florida.

For AFC groupings are:
ROARING teams = Jets, Bills, Bengals, Jaguars & Raiders
MONOCHROMATIC teams = Ravens, Browns, Dolphins, Steelers & Chargers
Reminds me of WESTERNS = Broncos, Texans, Colts, Patriots, Titans & Chiefs

For NFC groupings are:
They are ABOVE us = Cardinals, Falcons, Eagles, Seahawks & Saints
Associated with the word PACK = Packers, Lions, Viking, Buccaneers & Redskins
Content to work SOLO = Giants, 49ers, Cowboys, Bears, Rams & Panthers

Options include every scenario for any of the AFC teams to match up to any of the NFC teams.

Good luck!

For purposing of grouping here is my logic for the groupings:

Jets ROAR, a herd of buffalo ROARS, Bengal tigers ROAR, Jaguars ROAR and a raiding party will typically be ROARING also.

Ravens are solid black = MONOCHROMATIC, the Cleveland Browns are just that - Brown/MONOCHROMATIC, Dolphins come in one color, gray = MONOCHROMATIC, Steel being forged is either white hot during smelting, or cold dark steel but just the one color = MONOCHROMATIC and an electric charge, like a lightning bolt come in only one color too = MONOCHROMATIC.

When I think about good old spaghetti Westerns I can easily imagine them having; Broncos, Texans, Colts, Patriots, Titans and Chiefs.

Above us are obviously things that can fly; Cardinals, Falcons, Eagles, Seahawks and I think most would agree Saints are "above us", generally.

Packers are obviously associated with the word PACK, but so are Lions who socialize in groups/PACKS, Vikings which were often uninvited guests, in PACKS, Buccaneers who sailed in PACKS and Redskins who generally lived in tribes/PACKS.

In contrast to teams or packs, the remaining teams are associated with occupations or animals that are often seen working alone; Giants certainly don't need a team to be successful, 49ers rigorously worked alone to keep found gold to themselves, Cowboys often ride/work along, Bears ramble around on their own as do Panthers.

You could have simplified this greatly by just asking who will be in the Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints. LOL

VNH, I second the nomination for best question. I generally don't wager on markets this far out but this is an extraordinarily well thought out and written question. Very creative food for the brain. Thank You! You deserve a CE position.
