What will be the outcome of the Michael Savage "autism racket" comment?

Background:
On his nationally syndicated radio show, Michael Savage claimed that autism is "[a] fraud, a racket. Since this comment AFLAC pulled its ads and 1 station has taken his show off the air. His website has since clarified his comments.
"My comments about autism were meant to boldly awaken parents and children to the medical community's attempt to label too many children or adults as "autistic."
Just as some drug companies have overdiagnosed "ADD" and "ADHD" to peddle dangerous speed-like drugs to children as young as 4 years of age, this cartel of doctors and drug companies is now creating a national panic by overdiagnosing "autism, for which there is no definitive medical diagnosis!

I watched Mr. Savage on Larry King's Show, he was not apologetic at all, he did however attempt to put it into a context where he was warning against a wanton and widespread practice of aggressive diagnosing of children by doctors and big pharma's who sometime have less than egalitarian motives. As a father of four boys I've been diligent for years watching for any school authorities that would want to recommend medications for my boys, sometimes they get a bit too carried away. Savage also referenced some instances where cholesterol lowering medications were recommended for children as young as two. I think that within the easily hyped sound bit here lurks some information that merits consideration.
