Olympics 2008; Will any sailing team blame algae plumes for failing to win a medal?

Settled as No

In fact, other stories report that they did a pretty good job of clearing and working around it.

"The algae was cleared off the 19 square miles of the race course by thousands of Chinese fishermen, soldiers and citizen volunteers. But it's blooming again. Three hundred fishing trawlers are sent out each morning at 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. to scoop it up, and a netting system has been arrayed to block its intrusion. Sailors have seen patches but have been able to sail around them."

Background:

Background: Water quality has been a concern for the sailing events, given that many coastal Chinese cities dump untreated sewage into the sea. At the same time, rivers and tributaries emptying into coastal waters are often contaminated with high levels of nitrates from agricultural and industrial runoff. These nitrates contribute to the red tides of algae that often bloom along sections of China's coastline.

Many thousands of citizens have volunteered to clean up the sea. As of mid-July, most of the sailing teams have indicated that they no longer fear a problem with algae.

This question asks, Will any sailing team, blame the algae bloom for causing them to place lower than Gold?
