Will police officer Scott Nugent be charged in "death by taser" case before October 31, 2008?

Settled as Yes

http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5j-PPrDUMG-1FPHxfQdrxKhOosBOgD92HNHPO0

This is a foul up on my end I though I'd settled this correctly this morning but it seems I made a right mess of things. I think I forgot to highlight "yes" when settling it which led to this. Apologies for this, markets been resettled correctly.

Background:

Baron Pikes was handcuffed by police and shocked nine times with a Taser while reportedly pleading for mercy. Within 39 minutes he was dead.

Officer Nugent claims he acted within the ambit of his training and Winnfield Police Department policies. The coroner disagrees, saying "This case may be the most unnecessary death I have ever had to investigate"

What a sad story!

I predict No, but hope I am wrong. I am normally "pro police" but this sounds like a horror movie gone terribly wrong.

@ notable notices

Just for clarity, I'm assuming that the issuance of the charge, formally alone will suffice for a yes, regardless of any outcome? You are not requiring a conviction to settle for YES, right?
posted 17 weeks ago
@valornhonor, yes that is correct. If he is charged with a crime, this will settle as yes.

@chatarra, I agree - the "men in blue" are some of our finest citizens. I think the few "bad apples" need to be brought to justice so that the reputation of the rest remains unblemished...

I requested a review of the settlement. Unless I read this wrong, it appears that indictments are in process and settlement should be "Yes".

@ chatarra -- I agree, this was incorrectly settled.

"A Louisiana grand jury indicted a former police officer on a manslaughter charge in the death of a man who was Tasered nine times while handcuffed, prosecutors said Wednesday.

"Scott Nugent also was charged with felony criminal malfeasance in connection with the January death of Baron "Scooter" Pikes."

Looks like everyone gets paid again :-(

Hi everyone,

Yep this would appear to be a foul up on my end. I was settling it as yes, but I must've pressed the wrong button. Sorry for making a mess of things, I've resettled the market so the "real winners" should get their winnings now.

Apologies,

Ryan
