How long will it take Russian snipers to remove bears from mining compound area?

Settled as Before Aug 1, 2008

Problem resolved before Aug 1. http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2008/08/01/Four_bears_shot_in_Kamchatka/UPI-91251217631729/

Background:

Background: Terrified workers at a mining compound in one of Russia's most isolated regions are refusing to go to work after a pack of giant bears attacked and ate two of their colleagues.

At least 30 of the hungry animals have been seen prowling close to the mines in northern Kamchatka in search of food, where the mangled remains of the two workers, both guards, were found last week.

@ biloxibeachboy..

just curious, do you anticipate an "all-bear-clear" announcement of some kind? I'm just thinking of the remoteness of the area, how many stacked bear bodies would these miners need to see to feel confident again, and will it be announced? Fascinating question though!

I've actually wondered about that myself. May need some clarification from admin if the question doesn't get answered. It is a very remote area. Not much news comes out of that area.

If there is no further news then we would have to void it. We would probably wait until the end of August before making that decision.

If no news is published, though, the "After Aug 15, 2008" option settles. When would this option win if not then?

kruijs is right. If there is no news, the after August 15th option should settle this...after all, the bears have probably eaten the reporters by now...

Sad news people. It looks like the situation was cleared up by Aug 1. http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2008/08/01/Four_bears_shot_in_Kamchatka/UPI-91251217631729/
The article makes clear that getting rid of the dumps got rid of the bears except the 4 that had to be shot.

And how can we be sure of an exact date the bears cleared out, as BEFORE August 1st will be different to BY August 1st...in terms of settlement, and from what date bets will be voided...

The UPI article is based on a TASS article earlier on Aug 1. Given the remoteness of location to Moscow, and the lack of any use of the word "today" in the article, I'm going with: this happened BEFORE Aug 1, and the cut-off will be July 31 23:59 GMT+4 [Moscow Time].
