Will the Speaker call Congress back into an emergency session this month?
Settled as No
House Republicans go back on the floor Monday to talk gas prices
Continuing with their guerrilla tactics from last week, House Republicans will be back on the floor Monday to talk gas prices, even though Congress is in recess, and they may stay there all week.
"In an urgent memo sent to GOP Members and staff Saturday (A Call to Action on American Energy), Republican Leader John Boehner (R-) and Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) hailed Friday's action, and encouraged House Republicans to return to the Capitol beginning Monday morning to help keep the historic effort going,"
It's not a request we make lightly. But the American people are suffering, Boehner and Blunt said in the memo. The consequences of continued congressional inaction on gas prices are unacceptable. We've called on the Speaker to call Congress back into an emergency session this month and schedule a vote on the American Energy Act. We must continue to make a stand until the Speaker complies.

http://www.gop.gov/energy/americanenergyact/
By tradition and by law, Congress recesses for the month of August, so since it's pretty unlikely that the August Recess will be broken for any reason, I'm ok with a YES settlement if they come back for any reasons.
I'm hoping that pressure from the people and from the president and from the GOP will bring them back.
The goals of the American Energy Act (http://www.gop.gov/energy/americanenergyact/) are nothing new. While the rest of the world expanded energy production we sat on our hands for the last decade to avoid offending some squirrel or moose or tadpole. We have the best technology in the world so I'm sure we can drill here, drill now and pay less in a much safer manner than third world countries do.
Maybe I'm wrong, but from my memory it seemed the GOP accomplished more during Clinton's Presidency than during Bush's Presidency... maybe during an Obamama Presidency the GOP would work hard on privatizing social security, controlling govt spending, lowering taxes, school choice, expanding domestic drilling, securing our borders, etc etc
They didn't do these things when they had the Whitehouse, Congress and Senate and I doubt they'd do any of this with John McCan't as president either.
You're not mistaken, this is an accurate recap.
