For the past several seasons, William Petersen has played the role of Gil Grissom on CBS' very successful crime drama CSI. Last month, however, Petersen announced that he would be leaving the series as a full-time regular this coming season, with the 10th episode--set to air during November's sweeps month--being his last. (Petersen does intend to occasionally guest star, and he'll act as executive producer.)
Several veteran actors have been named as possible replacements, though recent reports state that Laurence Fishburne, who has acted in many films over the years including Apocalypse Now and the Matrix trilogy, is the front runner.
