Will Nebraska judge dismiss lawsuit against God?
Current forecast: Judge dismisses lawsuit (90% chance
)
)
Combining all predictions, the current most likely outcome is Judge dismisses lawsuit with a probability of 90% (unchanged in last 1 day)
In September 2007, Nebraska state senator Ernie Chambers filed a lawsuit against the deity God. The lawsuit claimed that God has made terroristic threats against the senator and his constituents. Allegedly, He also inspired fear and caused "widespread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants."
Last week, the court told Chambers that it might dismiss his lawsuit, because he had failed to serve notice on God. Chambers claims that since courts swear in witnesses with the phrase, "So help me God," they are recognizing God. As a result, God would be at every hearing, because the deity is everywhere.
Douglas County District Judge Marlon Polk said that he would consider the issue and rule later. Chambers does not expect a quick ruling.
