How much will Obama's convention speech beat McCain's in TV ratings?

Settled as McCain's speech wins by any margin

McCain 5.2
Obama 5.0

Background:

This question is related to the market: http://www.hubdub.com/m13754/Will_McCains_or_Obamas_convention_speech_receive_higher_TV_ratings
--------------------------------------------------

The Democratic Convention will be held August 25-28. The Republican Convention will be held September 1-4. McCain and Obama speak on the last night of their party's convention.

All networks and cable outlets will cover these events, BUT THIS MARKET WILL SETTLE ON THE BASIS OF NBC'S RATINGS FROM 10PM-11PM ON BOTH THURSDAYS (AUG 28 & SEP 4). It would be too confusing to consider the ratings from every network, so I simply picked NBC because NBC Nightly News is rated higher than ABC World News Tonight or CBS Evening News.
--------------------------------------------------

About TV ratings for the non-Nielsen crowd: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nielsen_Ratings

"For example, Nielsen may report a show as receiving a 9.2 during its broadcast, meaning that on average 9.2 percent of [American]households were tuned in at any given moment."

Wow.. "More than 40 million people likely watched Barack Obama's acceptance speech Thursday, Nielsen said, besting the "American Idol" finale in May, the Academy Awards and the opening ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics. With more than a fourth of the nation tuned in, it may be the most watched convention speech ever. Only the Super Bowl and three other playoff games had more people watching this year, Nielsen said. It nearly doubled the number of people watching John Kerry's acceptance speech four years ago (possibly having something to do with realative strengths of oratory)."

McCain's speech received a 5.2 rating on NBC on Sep 4.

Surprise! Surprise!

What would have been a surprise to me would be if the 10:00PM - 11:00PM time slot on NBC did not rate higher than last week!

NBC carried the NFL Season opener (NY Giants against the Washington Redskins) last night, and that coverage spilled over into the NBC 10:00 - 11:00PM time period (only the NBC ratings for that time slot settles this question).

It will be interesting to see what the actual final ratings are for both speeches!

notice how the media had obama's rating plastered every where the next day. it was the greatest speech ever..blah blah. now they can't seem to get mccain's numbers out..things that make ya say hmmm. i seached it and got 1 site saying mccain beat obama, and 10 others with obama's numbers. why would obama's name come up in a search of "mccain"...things that make ya say hmmm.

@dieseldog - McCain and Palin aren't newsworthy because they can't elicit feelings of a "Thrill up my leg" (Chris Matthews) or take you back to the ninth grade...

Case in point:
"JOE SCARBOROUGH: Especially when you have the media loving one candidate as much as they love Barack Obama.

CARLSON: But it's more than love. I mean, it's the kind of love that anybody who's been a 9th-grade boy understands this species of love. Do you know what I mean?"

Yup, yup, ...things that make ya say hmmm.
