Will Sarah Palin's biography video include her husband's snowmobiling?

Settled as No

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddRoiVWfLyU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7swzN6T-38

NO mention or picture of him on snow mobile.

Background:

As a relative unknown, the RNC has a unique opportunity to use Sarah's bio video to define her to the voters. This video will be much more important than most bio videos and should offer some good insight as to what the Republicans think Mrs Palin brings to the campaign. There are a number of interesting elements to her biography, will they include her husband's prowess on the snowmobile? (Any mention to him being a snowmobiler or a picture of him on a snowmobile will count)

Category Editor Clarification
Obviously if there is no biography video then this market will be voided. Just like every other market on Hubdub if the events listed in the market don't occur then market will be voided. If the entire NFL season get cancelled, we will have to void the NFL markets, but since that isn't likely, each market is not going to be clarified that in the event NFL season is voided so will market. This question asks a very direct question. With her being such a new figure in the public arena a biography video is quite likely to occur.

What if there is no "biography video?"

@erik - If you are looking for clarification on a market please click flag for review. Clarifications are handled in that manner and not on the comment boards.

Yesterday we were promised -- as official hubdub policy -- that all clarifications would appear either in history or under settlement details, rather than under comments. Erik's question, which is important, has not been answered as yet. I have already used my "flag" on this question. Will someone else please flag this question and ask:

What if there is no "biography video?"

The biography video will be shown at the convention and presumably on national television to introduce the VP candidate...? Thanks.

@ randburg -- I flagged your comment and requested the category editor to respond to your question. If you get a response, please do post it here so Erik and all users will know.

Please see market background for added clarification. I will remind everyone including newswrangler that category editor clarifications will be added to backgrounds of markets. Please do not ask for clarifications in the comment field, please flag the market for review.

Good clarification! Thank you very much, we appreciate it. The new clarification systems works very well indeed.

We pretty much know what to expect with most sports markets, but the two Presidential conventions have provided a few unexpected twists and turns that are enough to confuse anyone: a hurricane that rearranged a schedule, two unexpected vice presidential choices, an appearing and disappearing Ted Kennedy, whether or not President Bush will speak at the Republic Convention (now that the hurricane was not as bad as anticipated), an unfolding vice presidential candidate saga that only seems to be beginning, a president who is monitoring the hurricane from Crawford (isn't that where he relaxes?), etc, etc. And where are Obama and Biden while all of this is going on?

There are still three days left before the end of the Republican Convention and Gustav disappears into Oklahoma...We can all expect more surprises, but we will ALL endeavor not to make it difficult for the category editors. They do a great job for us and they have a lot of additional stress this week. Thanks guys and gals for a great job!

@all HD'rs...i got a suggestion. since the admin doesn't want to add his clarifactions (as erik said it would've taken less typing for you to answer the question) to the comment section. if you flag a question and get a response copy and paste it in the comment section. randburg says he got no response and i noticed the other day newswrangler said he hadn't got one in over 24hrs. it's cyber space so maybe their response's got lost. to avoid this problem just post the response you get in the comments. sound good to you all? this is NOT mandatory for user's...strictly voluntary. this way if a user flags and for whatever reason doesn't get the response they have a chance of gettin their question answered. i'm open to other suggestions as to how to put this to rest. i noticed the other day the admin told somebody...read the COMMENTS above they cleary state how this will settle. one day its read the comments, the next day its don't. see what i mean by being inconsistent. imho a user (after they made a wager and moved on) has a better chance of seeing a clarifaction in the comments. i don't usually go back and re-read a question after i bet on it. if it gets clarifyed-changed how am i pose to know?

All clarification in all categories will be added to the background of the market. If you look up you will see that a clarification has been added, I even put in bold print for those that don't seem to observe things well. What we are trying to do is simply keep the comments section for comments. We are going to use the background for clarifications as well as update settlement details if necessary. So we ask all users to flag a market for clarification, the category editor will attempt to email you with a reply and will also post a clarification if necessary in the background. Posting those replies in the comments fields will do nothing but clog up the comments and not allow users to easily look through them.

the cat editor will attempt to email...as seen here that doesn't always work. i have no problem with the bold print for those that don't seem to observe things well..the problem is..AFTER A WAGER IS MADE AND THE QUESTION GETS CHANGED THE PERSON WHO MADE THE WAGER BEFORE THE CHANGE DOESN'T KNOW IT GOT CHANGED! if its added to the comments the chances of it being seen is INCREASED. if their flag isn't answered then other users posting the ones they got could be very helpful..and its no extra work for the admin. it will also allow the users to see that things are being dealt with consistently! no "subjective analysis" if ya will. i've noticed all admins but you will add clarification's in the comments. your free not to. since you choose not to i think the users should feel free to add them if they wanna.

We are working on functionality to address the problem of users not being notified. As far as other category editors, it was just decided yesterday that category editors would clarify in back ground and not in comments.
It is extra work for the category editors and takes the limited time we have away from other problems. I think you should email Nigel if you have bigger concerns. Nigel@hubdub.com

i've noticed this morning 2 admins has added in the comments they clarifyed their markets. seems like the extra work doesn't bother them. you can run the political cat as you see fit. i'll encourage users to post their replys (political cat) they get in the comment section. all will be happy then, don't ya think?

We are making attempts to clean up the comment fields. We are posting clarifications in the backgrounds. We want users to have the comments fields free from information that is also available at top of screen. Plus it will reduce the number of comments on the site, and that enables the category editors to better watch the comments when there isn't pages and pages of duplicate posts.
As an active Hubdub member it would be nice if you helped promote the direction Hubdub has decided to move, instead of continuing to swim upstream. This new process will make the clarifications easier to find, while keeping comments for comments.

will make the clarifications easier to find...yea if their there before you wager.

As an active Hubdub member it would be nice if you helped promote the direction Hubdub has decided to move..if HD has decided to make it harder for a user to have a clear view of how a question will settle then imho their going in the wrong direction. the comment section can be very useful in helping new members..especially on markets that have been clarifyed. as an admin it would greatly helpful if you didn't want so much control and was more open on how you decide things. i didn't hear you complaining on the gazzillon post made by lucidstates when people was protesting sakayti. oh wait you was in favor of that so it wasn't clogging up the comments. you can continue to do as you see fit, and i'll do the same.

Well since you seem to have the outlook that forcing new users to read through the hundreds of comments some questions receive will some how be more convenient, there is nothing I can say to change your mind. I will tell you that the new procedure is that category editors are going to clarify markets in the background of the question, and not in the comment field. Obviously you haven't read my comments on the procedures and added functionality that is being worked on to solve the problem of clarifications being made after wagers were placed. Again that is something that will solve the problem of notifying those users. Just as we send out automated emails letting people know when a market they have wagered on has been suspended or unsuspended, having an email that says a market you wagered on has been clarified will solve that particular problem. Posting the clarification in the comments does nothing to help them either.
We seem to have a clear disagreement about whether or not the comment field is useful for clarifications and the admins at Hubdub have decided it is not, so I will be following in line with those procedures.
