Will FTSE open up on 4 Sept?

Settled as Yes

Settled as YES
The FTSE 100 opened slightly higher at 5,503.20 but by 08:53 BST had slipped back 2.8 points ahead of the Bank of England's interest rate decision later.

Background:

Assuming that FTSE-related questions are already allowed (or I hope so) I create this one.
The opening figures of the FTSE are very difficult (more difficult than Dow and Nasdaq openings) to predict. You need to follow the general economic information, you need an intuition and you need some experience, but all this is not enough, there is always a great risk.
But may be just that is the attractiveness of this market.
There is also may be some inconvenience for the american users - FTSE opens at 3 A.M Eastern; midnight Pacific time, but for those who like to go to bed late, there isn't better time for Hubdub than the late night :).

Thanks Orlin....this is fine as a question and serves one of the purposed I'd intended by reopening some of the international markets. This allows our Hubdub players around the globe to participate at times they may be more convenient for them. Not that I'm going to be settling this question at 3 AM, but I should get to it first thing in the morning US time.

I'm just trying not to get flooded with a bunch of new markets, but at the same time trying to allow for more variety.

OK...I'm a bit confused at to opening and closing times...in the US we're in daylight savings time, and I believe the UK is as well...so if the FTSE opens at 8 AM in the UK, then a closing time of 1:59 CDT should work...if not, let me know and I'll make the necessary adjustments.

As I'm beginning to understand it, GMT doesn't take into consideration such artificial adjustments such as daylight savings time zones.

The opening time is NOT 8 AM GMT, but is 8 AM British summer time, or 0700 GMT. This is 3 AM ET.
Closing is at 4.30 PM BST, 1530 GMT, 11.30 AM ET. Actually, as I said before, closing figures are taken at 4.35 PM BST.
And we don't forget that data are 15 min delayed.

It opened up, sadly for some. Yahoo is not the most reliable source on markets.

Yep, although Yahoo showed no change, taking a look at other sites indicated a higher opening this morning at 5503.20 compared to yesterday's close just under 5500.

In other words, do kinda like the DJIA 1PM question? Only problem is finding a site that would give us the exact price at a certain time. The opening price is a set price that is reported on throughout the day. Like Orlin said, Yahoo, althought it may be usuable for most markets, there are some weaknesses. Other sites that do have the needed information, such as Google Finance, which
