Which talkshow will land the first Sarah Palin interview?

Settled as Avoids them all

Not even a Rachael Ray appearance -- didn't she have a Moose recipe to share??

Background:

We have heard that the McCain camp might try to keep her away from the press but would she be able to sway voters by going on some of the more entertainment type shows where they will talk more in general. Will she subject herself to The View, Ellen, Oprah, Tyra Banks, The Daily Show, Colbert, Rachel Ray, or does she avoid them all?

Settlement details: The winning show will be the one in which she appears on first (of these shows), if an announcement is made that she will do a show, we will suspend the market but not settle til the show is aired. If she appears on some other show it will not effect the settlement of this market.

Settlement details: As reported by a major mainstream news source.

Oprah has already publicly stated she won't have candidates as guests before the election. Accordingly starting odds are off for that option.

Maybe i'm dense---"Settlement details: The winning show will be the one in which she appears on first, if an announcement is made that she will do a show, we will suspend the market but not settle til the show is aired."
So, if nothing happens by the suspend date, this remains open just to see if maybe she's on a show in....hmmmm, I dunno, 2015?

There has been some reports that Oprah is denying those earlier reports. This market refers to before the election that is why suspend date is set for day before Election. The Avoids them all will be winning option if she doesn't do any of the ones listed by the election.

If the first show Palin appears on is "The Tonight Show" does that count as "Avoids them all"?

What if she does SNL and takes the place of Tina Fey at the "Weekend Update" desk?

@carnac - that would truly be magnificent! (but it wouldn't settle the question). only these specific shows will count towards settlement. I'll add a note to make that clearer.

No Larry King Live?

Oops, never mind, misread the question.

For some reason "previously gored runners don't count" comes to mind ...

Avoids them all seems to indicate the result if she does not appear on any of the listed shows. That seems to clarify any settlement issues. She may appear on others, Leno, Letterman, etc., but that wouldn't apply here.

If she does, and I think she will, it'll probably be on a show where the talk is lighter and she won't be seriously challenged on anything...I'd go for Ray or Banks....

It doesn't fit into this market. It doesn't fit into the press conference market because that one states does not include a single press interview. Maybe it will be part of the This Week with George, but McCain on CBS Face the Nation said she would be doing the circuit very soon.

I'm surprised that so many are choosing 'The View' after John McCain's appearance there last week and Cindy's criticism of the way that he was treated.

Anyway, I just wanted to point out...and maybe get some clarification on...something regarding the SNL comment (#5). I think the overall point was missed in the response to that question. Sure SNL isn't on the list, and wouldn't count, but I think the main point of that question was not about the program itself, but the nature of the appearance. In other words, does any appearance on one of the program's listed count as an interview? For example, Hillary appeared on the Colbert Report, which is on the list, before the Pennsylvania primaries. However, she appeared in a scripted bit where she fixed his big screen. This doesn't seem to fit the spirit of the question, which specifically asks which talk show will land the firt interview. It seems that the appearance on the show should involve at least one or two questions, even they are softballs, in order to qualify as an interview. However, the settlement details just use the more vague term "appears," so perhaps any type live/satellite appearance counts...which might make the question less "voidable" anyway. Destry? Anyone?

Doesn't change my wager either way, just an observation.
