Will NASA cancel the Ares I rocket by the end of 2009?

Background: NASA's development of the Ares I launcher -- a crew launch vehicle intended to be used after the retirement of the Space Shuttle -- has run into a number of developmental hurdles and design problems, with many calling for its cancellation in favor of alternative launchers. This question will be settled based on an official announcement before the end of 2009 from NASA, the President, or another US government entity that the Ares I rocket will be canceled or indefinitely postponed.

Cool question! Ares is part of the Constellation program to get people back onto the moon by 2020 - that will be great for a Hubdub question in 12 years time :-)

Here's an article on how engineers plan to make the rocket less suscetible to vibrations and provide a more comfortable ride for future moon-walkers
