How much will a £1,000,000 note fetch at the Oct. 08 auction?

Background: A one-million-pound ($A1.8 million) banknote - thought to be one of only two in existence - is to be offered at auction in London in October.

The 15cm-wide green banknote, numbered 000008, was issued by the Bank of England on August 30, 1948, in connection with the Marshall Aid Plan in the aftermath of World War II, said the specialist auctioneers and dealers Spink.

The company said the defunct note, entered for sale by the UK-based banknote collector Bill Parkinson, may fetch $A80,000 at its October 1 sale of world banknotes.
