Will Gerry Ritz be forced to resign due to comments made during the Listeria Outbreak?

Settled as No

Not only did he not resign, he won his seat with over 60% of the vote.

Background:

Background: Gerry Ritz (Conservative Agriculture Minister) was caught on a conference call discussing a death in Prince Edward Island due to Listeria. He commented that he hoped the death was Wayne Easter (his Liberal Agriculture Critic).

The comment was released yesterday (Sept 17th) and has touched off a huge debate in the middle of the Canadian Election Campaign.

At the current time, the Prime Minister is standing by his Minister, but will this change as pressure mounts?

Settlement requested Thu 18th Sep 2008 5:36pm PST by randburg: Sorry, my flag was ignored on this question: The history says: "I have selected a suspend date of Oct 14th which is the date of the Canadian Election." But the actual suspend date on this question is in 51 weeks. Can this please be corrected?
Changed Suspend date Sat 11th Oct 2008 8:52am PST by infernalmachine[Power User]: was: "2008-10-13 19:59:00"
Settlement requested Tue 14th Oct 2008 11:12am PST by paulcroft: This should settle as NO.

He is still listed in the slate of candidates, so one would assume that he wasn't forced to resign. There has been no further news since this incident occurred and therefore it must settle as NO.

the suspend date says 51 weeks - I sure hope this closes on Oct. 14, and not a year from now!
