Will Obama apologize to the Jopek family for wearing their son's bracelet against their wishes?

Settled as No

No apology reported, some reports say the family wasn't offended.

Background:

The father of Ryan David Jopek asked Barack Obama NOT to wear his son's bracelet. Obama, however, made the bracelet the subject of one of his debate responses. Will he apologize to the Jopek family before the election?

Which begs the question: Why hasn't the main-stream-media reported this?

erik - when i first read the question i was gonna go off on obama. then i counted to 10 (that took 20 minutes). the link in the background is a blog. so i read it and found other links with more info. the jopek's are seperated-divorced. the dad wants the media to jump on obama. the mom (she gave the bracelet to obama) says she don't want no more attention brought to this. she told obama not to use the bracelet for political reasons. the mom said since mccain brought up his braclet, she thought it was ok for obama to bring up his. (thats according to a interview by the AP) imho obama shoulda respected the mom's wish for him not to use it. i would hope he don't use it again.

http://townhall.com/news/politics-elections/2008/09/28/soldiers_mother_ecstatic_about_obamas_bracelet
Excerpt:
The mother of a Wisconsin soldier who died in Iraq says she was "ecstatic" when Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama mentioned during Friday's debate the bracelet she gave him in honor of her son.

Tracy Jopek of Merrill told The Associated Press on Sunday she was honored that Obama remembered Sgt. Ryan David Jopek, who was killed in 2006 by a roadside bomb.

Jopek criticized Internet reports suggesting Obama, D-Ill., exploited her son for political purposes.

"I don't understand how people can take that and turn it into some garbage on the Internet," she said.

good points, all....I think I read some of the same reports.
Sadly, some just don't care.

@mork: I found this on youtube, where the father says that she asked Barack not to wear the bracelet.

Given that the mother said when interviewed that she was "ecstatic" at Obama wearing it I suspect an apology is unnecessary and very unlikely!

don't know why the media who DIDN'T interview the mother keep quoting her as "ecstatic". the AP interview can be found below. then the non-biased AP turns around and says - "Given that the mother said when interviewed that she was "ecstatic." guess they didn't read their own interview.

But Jopek told The Associated Press on Sunday that she's satisfied with how Obama discussed it during last week's presidential debate. big difference between "satisfied" and "ecstatic". maybe the media is biased? nah the mom just mis-spoke i bet.
