3rd Presidential Debate Oct 15 -- How many times will McCain address the audience as, "my friends"?

Background: Are you a friend of John McCain? You're not!?!? Well, he thinks you are.

McCain loves to use the phrase 'my friends.' He rocked it more times than I could count in the second debate. From the amount of times he uses it you'd he's the most popular man in the world. Unfortunately on Facebook McCain has 500,000 friends, while Obama has over 2,000,000 friends. If anyone should be using this, it should be Obama.

How many times will McCain address the audience as "my friends" in the third US presidential debate?

He said it twice in the first debate. I get the feeling he said it so many times in the second one because of the town hall format, which probably means we won't be hearing him say it 12 or more times this time around...

"my friends" repeated over and over again starts to sound like mind-control or brainwashing or something.

How many times do we all need to say 'we respect you for what you have done for this country', 'but, what you did does not necessarily make you our chosen leader?'

He said it 21 times, 19 times, whatever. I know it was more than 12. I started thinking, where do I know this friend from? Is he a long lost friend? Why wasn't I invited to Sedona, Arizona for a BBQ?

Obama never claime me (nor should you) as his friend. It shows a lack of character judgement.

The Hardball big number tonight was 22. Number of times McCain said my friends during 2nd debate.

Wow, I've had this all backwards... Obama accused me of bitterly clinging to religion and guns... rather than call me his friend, he shared his honest opinion of me.

On the other hand, I find the "my friends" annoying too... I prefer something along the lines of "my fellow Americans"

As long as there is a chance you might vote for him you are his friend. Maybe he should invite them over for a party;

He's not going to say 'my friends' nearly as many times. This isn't town hall.

its not town hall, AND, you know his advisers told him to maybe throw in a 'ladies or gentlemen' or a 'my fellow citizens' or some crap like that. I think hes gonna get it under control.

cognos, did you intend to say that being your friend displays a "a lack of character judgement"?

I just thought that was funny :D

OMG, if Mccain's staff were smart, they'd put a shock collar on him and light him up he STARTED to say "My f...".

In response/addition to those who commented that he will say my friends less at the third debate, because it isn't a town hall. I think it should also be noted that, in the third debate, they won't be standing at podiums either. They will be sitting at a table. Both candidates will likely be addressing the moderator and each other rather than the audience.

if they put the shock collar on him that might change from 'my f...' to 'my f...what the f...."

Seriously, he'll probably reduce the use of it, not only because of the change of format, but because his people have probably made a point of letting him know just how many times he said it and how phony it began to sound after the 12th time....I swear, sometimes it seemed as if he said it three times in the same sentence....it was like instead of clearing his throat, he'd just say 'my friends' to knock the phlegm out

I had the misfortune of hearing McCain give a speech this afternoon; someone had the TV at work turned to a cable news channel. I think I counted him say "my friends" at least half a dozen times in less than five minutes. Every time he says it, I just want to slap the @#$*( out of him.

Obama likes to say, "Pie"... I like pie too.

@ dragon - Please, please tell me that you're just a troll. Fifty-seven states? What map are you looking at?

However, I believe it is highly important that we know Obama's stance on pie. How does McCain stand on this vital issue? Does he support pie or oppose it? Would he rather have cake than a pie? Or are either of those a lie? We should try to get this question asked during the next debate.

The argument that because he over did it so much in the 2nd and since 3rd debate will be a different format (sitting down) makes sense. I've cashed out the 3,000 I had on 12. So basically I'm now betting that McCain's staff isn't silly enough to not tell him to lessen down the 'My friends.' Come on campaign staff don't fail me now!!!!

I changed to "3-5" from 12 or more. I think his campaign will tell him to tone it down. However, I think he'll still sneak in a few on accident.

But, if McCain doesn't use the "my friends" greeting, then maybe he's NOT your friend anymore. I'm sure their are some Voters who cling to the fact that he IS their friend, and if he doesn't say IT THIS TIME, he may really "lose" some friends.

Like me for instance. I'm thoroughly convinced that John is MY friend. Aren't you? If doesn't keep repeating that over and over again, I might find myself another friend.

He used it one time TECHNICALLY, and one other time use "my friend."

I am a man that ALWAYS interprets things literally and then examines the evidence.

Luckily, this settled a 0-2, avoiding any problems, lol. =)
