Background:>
The student was left paralysed from the chest down after his spine was dislocated when a scrum collapsed during training with Nuneaton Rugby Club in March 2007. But his condition is not believed to have been terminal and he is reported to have made some progress in regaining use of his fingers.
At 23, James was the youngest Briton to die of assisted suicide.
No one has yet been successfully prosecuted for assisted suicide using the Swiss clinic, but this case may be different as Daniel James' condition was not terminal.
Settlement details:
As reported by a major mainstream news source. Refers to outcome of the first hearing only. If case settles out of court, question will settle as 'no'.
