Will huge Iranian ostrich sandwich go into the Guiness Book of Records?

Settled as No

It didn't make it into the book...at least not yet.

Background:

Background: In an attempt to promote Iran's emerging ostrich industry, about 1500 cooks have created a huge sandwich. The sandwich was 1500 meters long and used 1000 kilograms of ostrich meat. It took two days to make the sandwich.

The sandwich was reportedly eaten before it could be measured officially. The event's organizers plan to send video footage of the sandwich to Guiness officials.

This market will settle as 'yes,' if the Guiness Book of Records published in either 2008 or 2009 list this sandwich as the largest ostrich sandwich.

Eek! Nice question.

Guiness record folk are quite strict about these things though, aren't they?

Generally. But i think that they may ease up because there were a lot of witnesses at the scene.

As the largest sandwich, or the largest ostrich sandwich? I wouldn't think they'd need to go 1500 meters for the largest ostrich sandwich....maybe a foot or two....

How insane is the organization of the event when they can't stop people from eating something that has been outdoors for two days, before they count it. I am not sure I would want a fresh ostrich sandwich, I am pretty sure I wouldn't want one that has been out in the open for two days.

@bayoubear: I am not sure if there is a category for largest ostrich sandwich, but if the sandwich sets the record for largest sandwich it will also be the largest ostrich sandwich.

No kidding! i once had an ostrich burger though, out of curiosity, and it was surprisingly good!
