Background:

Background: According to http://fuelgaugereport.com , today the nationwide average price/gallon of regular unleaded is $2.858. Do you think the price of gas will continue to fall? I think the days of gas at under $2.00/gallon are over, but do you think it will at least fall below $2.50?

Settlement details:<a href="http://www.fuelgaugereport.com/index.asp">http://www.fuelgaugereport.com/index.asp<;/a> (click on National Average on left). If avg regular fuel price/gallen falls below $2.500 at any point during the remainder of 2008

It's possible as a national average. I filled up yesterday at $2.27 in Dallas. That was the lowest I saw here yesterday (highest was $2.89). There was a price war in a small town to the south of Fort Worth on Friday: lines around the block for $1.96 a gallon...That made the 5pm news on tv...

But I am betting against it...Opec cut production this past week by a million and a half barrels a day (which should shove price up), and the election will be over in nine days. Traditionally gas comes down for the election and back up afterwards...unfortunately...will it be the same this year?

$2.589 on October 29. All we need is another dime. Not even OPEC could stop the price slide...
