7 weeks before he takes office , he is not a magician and all things have to be approved please extend at least to Jan 2010. (reason none on back burner) can not really come into play

Can you clarify by putting an end date on this question? Or is the suspend date the end date?

I have moved the suspend date to Jan. 20, 2010, that is one year from inauguration. The market will settle and suspend on that date. If anyone would like their wager cancelled please drop me an email at destry@hubdub.com

I hope "Health care reform" is not attempted. It is currently working well, and these "change" folk are trying to inflict something like this http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601109&sid=amVFPFBe40Ak&refer=exclusive on us

Am a little unclear to settlement.. Does the last item mean, that some "other" broken promise occurs first?

Or does question only care about the listed items? For example, if Obama promised to brush his teeth every day, or quit smoking, and then didn't brush his teeth and or started smoking, and it was reported, would it settle as the last option? I consider this important, as he has made a LOT of promises!! That's how politicians get elected...

We are only looking at the list provided. Other promises do not come into play in this market.

Who Pays for Cap and Trade?
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123655590609066021.html?mod=rss_opinion_main

Cap and trade is the tax that dare not speak its name, and Democrats are hoping in particular that no one notices who would pay for their climate ambitions. With President Obama depending on vast new carbon revenues in his budget and Congress promising a bill by May, perhaps Americans would like to know the deeply unequal ways that climate costs would be distributed across regions and income groups.

Politicians love cap and trade because they can claim to be taxing "polluters," not workers. Hardly. Once the government creates a scarce new commodity -- in this case the right to emit carbon -- and then mandates that businesses buy it, the costs would inevitably be passed on to all consumers in the form of higher prices. Stating the obvious, Peter Orszag -- now Mr. Obama's budget director -- told Congress last year that "Those price increases are essential to the success of a cap-and-trade program."

Hit hardest would be the "95% of working families" Mr. Obama keeps mentioning, usually omitting that his no-new-taxes pledge comes with the caveat "unless you use energy." Putting a price on carbon is regressive by definition because poor and middle-income households spend more of their paychecks on things like gas to drive to work, groceries or home heating.

The Congressional Budget Office -- Mr. Orszag's former roost -- estimates that the price hikes from a 15% cut in emissions would cost the average household in the bottom-income quintile about 3.3% of its after-tax income every year. That's about $680, not including the costs of reduced employment and output. The three middle quintiles would see their paychecks cut between $880 and $1,500, or 2.9% to 2.7% of income. The rich would pay 1.7%. Cap and trade is the ideal policy for every Beltway analyst who thinks the tax code is too progressive (all five of them).

dragonfang - bad thing is this cap and trade deal will raise the cost of everything from papertowels to gas. now he's saying the tax cut will offset the higher prices that will occur if cap and trade is passed. so actually you don't get a tax cut to spend they way you want..you spend it the way the govt tells/forces you to. thats the change the people voted for. :O)

Obama’s Lengthening Trail of Broken Promises
http://news-political.com/2009/07/02/obamas-lengthening-trail-of-broken-promises/
You may not know where Barack is going, but you sure know where he’s been - - simply follow the ever-lengthening trail of broken promises. The promise-versus-performance gap grows wider every day. Don’t say we didn’t warn you, Mr. and Mrs. America, that this guy is a shameless opportunist who says whatever it takes to get elected, then does what he [pleases].

Below are some samples — feel free to suggest more! And below the samples: some videotaped evidence of promises being made.

PROMISE: “No lobbyists in my administration.”

O'S BROKEN PROMISES
http://www.nypost.com/seven/07172009/postopinion/opedcolumnists/os_broken_promises_179667.htm

PRESIDENT Obama promises that "if you like your health plan, you can keep it," even after he reforms our health-care system. That's untrue. The bills now before Congress would force you to switch to a managed-care plan with limits on your access to specialists and tests.

Two main bills are being rushed through Congress with the goal of combining them into a finished product by August. Under either, a new government bureaucracy will select health plans that it considers in your best interest, and you will have to enroll in one of these "qualified plans." If you now get your plan through work, your employer has a five-year "grace period" to switch you into a qualified plan. If you buy your own insurance, you'll have less time.

...

The most recent ABC News/Washington Post poll (June 21) finds that 83 percent of Americans are very satisfied or somewhat satisfied with the quality of their health care, and 81 percent are similarly satisfied with their health insurance.

They have good reason to be. If you're diagnosed with cancer, you have a better chance of surviving it in the United States than anywhere else, according to the Concord Five Continent Study. And the World Health Organization ranked the United States No. 1 out of 191 countries for being responsive to patients' needs, including providing timely treatments and a choice of doctors.

Congress should pursue less radical ways to cover the uninsured. We have too much to lose with this legislation.

The Lie Clock

A man died and went to heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter's desk at the Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him. He asked, "What are all those clocks there for?"

St. Peter answered, "Those are Lie Clocks. Everyone on Earth has a Lie Clock. Every time you lie the hands on your clock will move."

"Oh," said the man, "whose clock is that?"

"That's Mother Teresa 's. The hands have never moved, indicating that she never told a lie."

"Incredible," said the man. "And whose clock is that one?"

St. Peter responded, "That's George Washington's clock. The hands have moved twice, telling us that Washington told only two lies in his entire life."

"Where's Barack Obama 's clock?" asked the man.

"Obama's clock is in Jesus' office. He's using it as a ceiling fan."

'The most recent ABC News/Washington Post poll (June 21) finds that 83 percent of Americans are very satisfied or somewhat satisfied with the quality of their health care, and 81 percent are similarly satisfied with their health insurance.'

That's odd! The 'evil' British NHS recorded a 92% approval rating in its last patient survey....Then again, if you don't like the NHS you can just join a Healthplan.

Got to say the amount of Lies coming out of the US about the NHS has been astonishing, especially when you know a simple Google will refute these claims. Using the same words to describe North Korea, the Taliban and a much loved British institution like the NHS will only push away any support the US has from one of it's close allies in the 'War On Terror'.

The United States will reduce healthcare costs by sending the supporters of government ran healthcare to countries who already adopted a socialist healthcare plan. The supporters of Obamacare clearly do not understand how capitalism operates; the government is not here to make your life better. The role of government is to protect your basic rights and protect our nation. As individuals we are to look out for our own interests and manage our day-to-day lives. Where in the constitution does it state the government will assure all people have healthcare?

"The 'evil' British NHS recorded a 92% approval rating in its last patient survey..." so what this states is most of those who received care like it... What about those who did not receive care because the government did not approve of the procedures necessary? In order to understand what this statistic is saying you will need to process what you are reading; stop taking things at face value. Nowhere will you find a true study of the general population where the people are 92% satisfied that is not playing games with their statistics.

As I said, if you do not like the NHS in the UK, you can get a Healthplan as in the US. You can chose between government and private Healthcare in the UK, unlike the US.
