Will Heath Ledger's daughter, Matilda, receive his $10 million life insurance payout?

Current forecast: Matilda receives both life insurance and damages (43% chance1%)
Combining all predictions, the current most likely outcome is Matilda receives both life insurance and damages with a probability of 43% (up 1% in last 1 day)

Lawyers for Heath Ledger's three-year-old daughter, Matilda, have vowed to financially punish a US life insurance company for its failure to pay a $US10 million policy the actor took out four months before his drug overdose death.

ReliaStar Life Insurance has decided not to pay until it investigates if Ledger committed suicide in his rented Manhattan loft in January. The New York Medical Examiner's Office rule the overdose of prescription drugs accidental. Its investigators plan to interview actress and owner of the loft Mary-Kate Olsen, the masseuse who found Ledger's lifeless body, doctors who treated the movie star, and some of his co-stars.

William Shernoff, the lawyer representing Matilda's trust, said the delay in payment was adding to the stress suffered by the Australian actor's family and he would pursue significant punitive damages from ReliaStar that could amount to “tens of millions of dollars”.

This question might be a bit tricky so make sure you read the settlement details - it refers to the outcome at the end of the superior court's decision ONLY eg if Matilda may in the future receive the life insurance payout but has only received damages by the end of the court case, the winning outcome will be damages only. If by the end of the court case she has already been awarded the life insurance and receives extra punitive damages, it will settle as both payments.
