Obama's Inauguration: Will Bruce Springsteen perform?

Current forecast: 33% chance
Combining all predictions, the current forecast is that this is 33% likely to happen (unchanged in last 1 day)

Several performers' names have been suggested: Aretha Franklin, Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Will.i.am, etc. Most of the names have been black, but Obama is half-Caucasian and might want to balance the ceremony accordingly. Perhaps there will be a reading by a black author, and a music performance by a white one. Several white performers (like Wilco) have actively supported Obama.

The Star Online reports, "Veteran rocker Bruce Springsteen is expected to release a new album next year to coincide with the inauguration of US President-elect Barack Obama.

The album will comprise material left over from the Magic album from last year.

It is expected to include the song Workin' on a Dream, which debuted at an Obama rally."

This suspend date is being placed a few days ahead of the actual inauguration in order to lessen the chance that the answer will be obvious when the question is suspended.

I do hope Bruce gets a new pair of jeans for the Innauguration.
hummm, why do people say black..but then call other people caucasian not white?
And i beleive Black is a term used referring to indviduals whose ancestors were slaves...in the United states... Mr Obama is technically Kenyan American since he knows his ancestors origin of birth as opposed to African Americans who only know the continent from which their ancestors came not the country. Much like German-Americans, Italian Americans, Canadian Americans....are all able to name the Country of origin....

I have come to the conclusion that generally people who identify themselves as hyphenated americans end up being part of some special interest group with their hands out for some consideration at the expense of other american citizens. People who take the label of American are admirable. There is a certain amount of harm done when Americans divide themselves up into separate groups.

Very true. When i lived in florida, there were whole sections that spoke different languages. I would be driving along a road, and i would see a sign in english, then a mile later i would see another sign in a different language! United we stand, devided we fall.

nadine - how many caucasian/white people do you hear saying their a hyphenated (pick your country) american? this hyphenated american BS is political correctness run wild. did the german, polish, italian, immigrants have a press 1 for their language when calling the govt on the phone? i'd say they have a discrimination suit.

I used to know a white South African Afrikaaner who immigated to the US, claiming that he was going to become a White African American...

Thanks curios, but actually I "goofed". I thought it was spelled "aa", but my trusty Oxford Dictionary indicates "au contraire".

The Oxford says: Afrikaner: n. Afrikaans-speaking white person in S.Africa, esp. of Dutch descent. (And there you will see the source of confusion, officially a single "a" in Afrikaner and a "aa" in the Afrikaans language. Fancy that!).

Heres an idea, instead of making it confusing for all involved, and confusing for people who are looking at the situation without a thorough understanding of african descriptions, lets just bundle them all together and call them all africans. Agreed?

Or you could say "people from Africa" or even better, from their individual countries like South Africa, Cote D'Voire, Kenya, Ethiopia, etc.
