Will scientists make someone invisible by 2012?

Previously the stuff of fantasy fiction, for years scientists have been trying to create a camouflage suit that would render the wearer invisible to the naked eye.
At present, suits give the impression of a shadowy figure - but will we soon see someone disappear?
